What is love like?

I have always hated watching romantic movies. Horror films, noir films, comedies, documentaries, and even cult films are acceptable, and I like them very much, but romantic movies just can’t stand it. I used to think that I lacked emotional cells, and I had a low self-esteem for a while. Now it seems that the current love movies are too procedural and dramatic, and lack the most basic shaping of characters and feelings. Therefore, the so-called love sketch movies are more like the stories in the story club than the prose written by the writer.

So my joy after watching this movie is really beyond words.

There is no exaggeration of love at first sight, no childish childhood clichés, no inexplicable setting of a grudge enemy, just two people who have known each other since childhood, many years later, meet and get along again. The friend's elder brother returned to the holiday house to conceive a novel after he fell in love, while the younger brother's friend was struggling with the heavy reality and ideals.

Sean's character is undoubtedly charming, he is tolerant, considerate, confident and fearless. He made no secret of his distinctive sexual orientation. He bravely pursues what he wants, and he said that children should be pampered. He even condoned Zac's escape and bad temper after a kiss at the beach.

Zach is sensitive and kind. He is burdened with too many heavy things. In order to take care of the fragmented family, the unresponsible sister, the nephew Cody who had no father since he was a child, and the father of dementia, he gave up his pursuit of artistic ideals. For the sake of Qingmei's girlfriend who is like a friend, he has not had the courage to face his true feelings.

But all this changed after Zach met Sean. There was a man who accompanied him to surf, knowing that he would be pleasantly surprised when he read his own book, he could understand the depression and sorrow in his graffiti work, loving his nephew who was like a son, and after a kiss at the beach. , What cares about is not the relationship between the two, but to let him not give up his talents. That's why Zach panicked. Under the opposition of his sister and considering the bad influence on his nephew, he went to Sean's house without hesitation and kissed him.

He has always considered too much for the people he loves: sister, Caddy, girlfriend, but ignores himself. When the person who considered everything for himself appeared, he could no longer refuse. After that night, he left Sean with an ambiguous attitude. And when he drove the car against the morning sun, he finally smiled, because he finally found himself and the person who loved him.

There are many kinds of rhetoric about love. In fact, it is so simple. If you pet or be petted by someone, you will feel that kind of happiness. It is so pure and simple to be able to shoot feelings, especially between same-sex romances, and it is more real than many heterosexual romance films that pretend to be gestures.

There are two scenes in the film that I like very much: one is in a montage after Zac and Sean are together, and the other is in the filming of Zac taking Caddy to the supermarket, when the lights came from Zac’s head, there is This kind of dreamy effect, combined with the fun and smiles of Zac and Caddy in the supermarket, gives a clear view of the romance and sweetness of Zac and Sean after being together, although Sean does not appear in this scene. There is also a scene at the end of the film. Sean and Zach are teaching Caddy surfing together at the beach, and then the two hug naturally. The family of three people with no blood relationship is so harmonious and sweet.

Shelter quotes

  • Shaun: [looking through Zach's art portfolio] Wow.

Zach: [trying to grab it away from him] Whoa! What're you doing?

Shaun: Easy, dude, it's OK. I want to look at it.

Zach: Nobody ever looks at that.

    Shaun: Wow. Is that Cody?

    Zach: Yeah.

    Shaun: Sad Cody.

    Zach: You could tell?

Shaun: Yeah, and how you darkened it around his head. This is incredible - and there's no toys in his room. Wow - awesome.

Zach: Yeah, he'd just gotten scolded. He was trying to understand why. So he came into my room. He hasn't left yet. It's the only place he could sleep.

  • Shaun: Where are you?

Zach: Gettin' warmer... colder... turn around. I'm so sorry.

    Shaun: You better be.

Zach: You sent in my application?

Shaun: Yeah... why're you here? What changed?

    Zach: I did.
