When Margaret drove away from West Dakota in the sunset with George, who was left with his hand. I am thinking that the story will not end this way, they will definitely take Jimmy away, but I can't think of how to achieve this ending successfully. Sure enough, he still embarked on the old routine. George went back and left himself there. Margaret brought Jimmy back as he wished, but he couldn't say how worthwhile.
The tempo of the film is very comfortable, the sky, grass, horse field, slow enough to allow Diane Lane and Kevin Costner to slowly radiate their charm. They did. Margaret's boldness and determination, George's calmness and introvertedness, the two of them have different personalities, but they also exude attractive magic.
George did not show absolute support for Margaret's operation, but still followed. He knew that the things Margaret decided would not change, just as he knew that this kind of stubbornness tends to ignore possible problems. So she needs someone to clean up the mess.
George would think more, such as taking a child away from her mother, no matter how justice the starting point is, it is unreasonable. For example, if two people in their sixties bring a three-year-old child, can they give him a better life? But Margaret doesn't want this, she just knows that the one I love must let him out of danger.
The look at Lorna's second wedding ceremony clearly showed that she didn't love Donnie much. She just wanted to find a support, and left her ex-husband's house. Yes, I think she will blindly marry someone she doesn't love, just to be able to leave Margaret quickly.
The Weboy family can take root, by no means because of diligence and hard work. On a land seized by a bloodbath, in a place where it is officially recognized that one can own the land after five years of residence. How to expand one's own territory, how to expand one's own interests. Those who came here in the first place and stayed in the end will not be good men and women. So Blanche doesn't necessarily want Jimmy, what she can't allow is to be in her territory, and others are the masters.
So I said I couldn't think of the ending of this story. Even though Margaret was brave when riding a horse, even if George, who had been a sheriff for 30 years, had a reputation, they still couldn't see the ending. This is the ending that only Stallone and Schwarzenegger can see. Of course, there may be Kevin Costner before, but not George Blackledge in this film.
The real life is full of things you can't do, full of unreasonable things. In reality, not many people choose to rush into the opponent's house with a gun like George. Your movie may end. In the sunset, sitting on the co-pilot with a severed hand and leaving West Dakota. Or build a thatched cottage at the foot of the mountain, in order to sneak into the city from time to time, and take a peek at the back of his grandson across the street.
