The Elegy of Class in the Lens of Lucino Visconti

Using the POV (Point of View) narrative, Lucino Visconti used the five brothers of the family: Vincent, Simon, Locke and Rocky and Luca as perspectives, and spent three hours telling the changes in the family. His social class, but helplessly trapped by the torrent of society, can no longer return to the sad story of the past.

I saw a symbol in a film review: "Traditional Vincent, Simon the Fallen, Saint Locke, Quirrell, the incarnation of justice and reason, and Luca the hope of the future." I thought it was right, director Viscon Di hopes to coordinate with this social environment through the different perspectives and methods of five people, and ultimately create the thickness of the film. It was the involvement of the prostitute Nadia, which more dramatic caused the conflicts between the brothers, set off the theme of the movie, and aroused people's reflection.

In the movie, the two most impressive shots, one of them comes from Nadia. She concealed the fact that she had been in love with Simon, but turned and fell in love with Locke, and even fell in love with Locke deeply, thinking that he had saved her life. Nadia is a woman of the wind and dust. After reading the warm and sad world, she said to Simon, "You ruined the best thing in my life", which made people feel sad.
