Reaper's mercy, confession on Huangquan Road

While watching this movie, the images from "Mulholland Road" directed by David Lynch have been in my mind. They are so alike. From the granular image that belongs to that era, to the weird dreamlike plot, to the cutscenes interspersed in the film, it's hard not to let me connect them together. This led me to preconceived the story as a dream of someone in the car when watching movies. This idea is completely reasonable until the last part of the main body of the film, until the sanitation worker picks up the note written by father in the easter egg at the end of the film.

(Things to do after this is over: 1. Buy an Atari game console. 2. Be the best grandpa in the world)

I suddenly realized that the original film is about the real Huangquan Road. All the people in the film are ghosts who are out of their bodies but do not realize that they are dead. (In this way, this film is more like "Small Island Cry" directed by Alessandro Amamba)

The main plot of the film is: on Christmas Eve, the family drove to the mother-in-law’s house for the holidays, but the father was dozing off while driving, resulting in a car accident, and the entire family, except for their daughter, died. They did not know it themselves, and continued to drive on Huangquan Road.

The film spends a lot of space to create a normal and strange feeling for the audience. The early stage of the film was filled with all kinds of shots like this:

1. A match that can never be wiped

2. Marcott who will never reach

3. A public radio station with weird crying

4. The recurring forest hut

5. All clocks stop at 7:30

6. The girl holding the dead baby

7. The weird story told by the father

This may also be an allusion to their family

8. This never-ending forest road

Even so. As a staunch materialist father, he has been making reasonable explanations

1. When it is found that the road does not have any signs and check the database

2. When you find that there are no other cars on the road

But in the end he still collapsed

After finally understanding that the film was about the story on Huangquan Road, I couldn't help but sigh that maybe this is the kindness of death to this poor family on Christmas Eve. Everyone along the way was able to speak the truth to others and eliminate misunderstandings. Kind of similar to dying confession.

1. Brother vs. Sister

2. Mother to father

3. Father to mother

Full of complaints from the beginning

To finally let go, understand

4. Father to son: From the beginning, he sneered at his son’s hobby, to the end, he was willing to understand and try

Although Marilyn Manson was misinterpreted as Marilyn Bronson in the end

In the end, this severely divided family was able to understand each other on Huangquan Road and rushed to heaven without regret. This may be the last kindness of the god of death.

Some small details:

1. The mother picked up the phone and wanted to call the police, but heard the painful groan of a woman on the other side: This may be the phone leading to the real world, where the police were rescuing the wounded, and the groaning came from a daughter who was not dead.

2. The photo that fell from her mother's bag should be her derailed subject, Alan Rickson

3. The car driven by the man at the end of the film is the black hearse that appears in the film

4. The name of the doctor who finally woke up her daughter was Marcott. I think this is to show the characters in the play's desire for survival. They tried their best to reach Marcott. In the end, only the daughter really "arrived".
