"Red Beard" is not the most ambitious of the works that Kurosawa Akira and Toshiro Mifune have worked together , but the emotion he expresses is the deepest-the most precious and softest point in human nature-kindness.
It seems a bit hypocritical to write it this way, the smell of chicken soup is blowing, but I really don't know what vocabulary to use to describe it. No matter how gorgeous rhetoric is, a sincere heart is not worth it.
Lovely and loving iron man tenderness
The temperament of Mifune after 40 years old is not the same as when he was 30+, although it may also be because of the blessing of middle-aged people that his face has become much more kind.
Before 40, Mifune moved like a mad dog (not derogatory, look at Lord Kikuchiyo in "Seven Samurai" hhh), but from "Heart Stick", "Tsubaki Saniro" to "Red Beard", Mifune Toshiro is really Quiet like a virgin, moving like a rabbit (although this phrase doesn't seem to describe acting, but that's what it means).
In 2015 Mifune's documentary "Mifune Toshiro: The Last Samurai", Spielberg said, "Many people try to imitate Mifune Toshiro, especially when they want to act out those taciturn strong men, but no one can imitate him." See I didn't feel this way in the early works of Mifune, even though his ambition, panic, madness, and fear in "Spider's Nest" made me fascinated. But after watching "Red Beard", I felt the unique charm of Toshiro Mifune. He is suitable for such a role, at least I prefer him to interpret such a role, and I feel that he and the role are really integrated.
Red beard is a rough man, from appearance to language habits to the handsomeness of beating people, he is a completely rough man.
So when this rough guy shows warmth, he will be embarrassed, he will have small movements at a loss, looks really cute.
The first detail that made me feel lovely was that after Bao Bao was attacked and fainted by a mad woman, Red Beard took care of him and almost wiped his tears when communicating with him. It's a pity that I tried the rough man on the edge of the ooc and went to blow his nose (hands out) that little embarrassment and seemingly nothing happened is really cute!
There are careful rough guys. Xiaofeng was there when Masae came to look for the guarantee. Red Beard also paid attention to the little girl's mood while watching the two people talking, and later went to tell the little girl about his affection for him.
Then it's near the end. Before the wedding, it was a series of questions about not wanting to be a rich doctor to treat the poor like him. Red beard coughed, it was really too embarrassing. At the end of the guarantee, he praised his idol Red Beard, Red Beard: I'm not me, don't talk nonsense, I'm just a despicable villain. The look of the bewildered person is really cute, and finally he was praised as a smooth hair, and accepted by default, "hum", really kawaii~
Well, it's a big Maine Coon cat that doesn't care about people everyday! (After that, is this filter too heavy orz
To sum up, Red Beard is first of all a giant, otherwise he would not succeed in getting money from rich people and bureaucrats, nor would he be able to take the little girl from the X courtyard and retreat;
Secondly, he is a kind-hearted giant. He sees human suffering, human needs, and kindness that he may not even realize. He heals people, but also heals the heart.
He is still a giant who is willing to bow his head for his patients. Big-tempered and proud are the usual subsidiary attributes of capable people. But for the sake of his patients and for the closed clinic, he could "yell out,'please do it again'" (the subtitle of station b, it's really good to poke me...).
Such a rough man, such an iron man tenderness, such a giant, really cute!
Human suffering
The film made Baoben Gaosheng sympathize with a wave of human suffering and became a doctor who can help the world and see those who need his help.
I myself am not very interested in Sahachi's story. The sad love makes me feel sleepy...The latter half of the story of the little girl makes me sigh.
It is also the little girl who played so well, a child who suffered physical and mental trauma and suffered ptsd, slowly opened himself up, accepted others, and even finally brought light to more people. Her changes, and the changes in keeping money with her day and night, are very touching. From the stress of a child, we can see how much suffering she has suffered and how many people blame her. At this time, willing to believe in her move is very moving.
The poor little boy appeared in the back, and the little boy did a great job, especially the farewell scene, which was distressing. But as a protected person, the little girl grew up overnight.
The stories of these poor people are the most ups and downs and the most exciting, but no one cares about them. But this clinic, these doctors, are willing to look at them with their hearts , see the various things in life, extend a helping hand to the struggling people, and spread the light.
To sum up, the film's narrative tone is very relaxed, allowing those sufferings and the kindness in the sufferings to be reflected in people's hearts little by little. After watching the movie, I felt melancholy and warm.
and, Akira Kurosawa and Toshiro Mifune, yyds!
