[Too long to watch]: The painting style continues, the picture is exquisite, and the soundtrack is pleasantly surprised. It is worth seeing.
[Front row reminder]: I don’t discuss the plot, I also love "The Secret of Kell Sutra" and "Song of the Sea", talk about the episode, briefly talk about the afterthought, welcome to discuss.
[Ways to watch]: While waiting for Apple TV+, I found that Bell Digital Cinema, the online theater of the Toronto International Film Festival, has already launched this one. Friends who can’t wait can buy tickets to watch it! (Thanks to Tie brother for allowing me to see it so early) URL: TIFF Bell Digital Cinema | Wolfwalkers tiff.net (no subtitles, but English is simpler, and some lines have accents, which has little effect)

If you have watched and liked "The Secret of Kells" or "Song of the Sea", which is the first two works of director Tom Moore, "Wolfwalker" still won't disappoint.
While waiting for the movie, I look forward to the Irish-style story that this movie will tell, look forward to its geometric lines, look forward to its proper soundtrack-these are "The Secret of Kell" and "Song of the Sea" The part that appeals to me the most.
After watching the movie, I would say that it still tastes inside. It did not disappoint, and it tasted great.
1️⃣ Surprise with the soundtrack
To my surprise, in addition to the excellent Bruno as always, the episode of this film also uses the early song "Running with the Wolves" by Norwegian female singer Aurora Aksnes. Aurora was only 19 years old when she released this song in 2015. The wind is unique, flexible and wild.
(The voice "the voice" of the north wind calling Elsa in PS "Frozen 2" is made by Aurora)
The song "Running with the Wolves" fits the theme very well from the name! (Lyrics and genre are also very compatible) Below is an excerpt of some of the lyrics:
......
I walk alone I'm everything
My ears can hear and my mouth can speak
My spirit talks I know my soul believes
But we're running out of time time
For the echo's in my mind cry
There's blood on your lies
Disguised up and wide
There is nowhere for you to hide
The haunting moon is shining
I'm running with the wolves tonight
......
look! It really fits!
It’s nothing more than writing a song specifically for the movie!
In fact, when I was waiting for the movie, I was looking forward to the episode. In "The Secret of the Kell", Aisling sat on the window sill and hummed a spell to turn the white cat into a wisp of wind, which was particularly charming; "Song of the Sea" was directly based on a lullaby. A clue, a song to send the gods home; although the song in "Wolfwalker" is not from the protagonist, it is equivalent to describing the protagonist's mood (=゚ω゚) (this is not a spoiler) Listening to the BGM, I want to run with the wolfwalkers.
2️⃣The echo of the screen
The scene is still inside. "Wolfwalker" is the last part of Tom Moore's "Irish Trilogy". The town in the movie also has high walls and flattened houses, tall and neat trees in the woods, and stone carvings and stone carvings hidden in the grass. The totem on the... can feel this in the scene. This is still happening on the same stage as the previous two stories (of course not exactly the same). If you haven’t seen the first two, you can imagine Hayao Miyazaki’s animation That gentle world-no matter how the story changes, how the setting background changes, those similar points and points will make you imagine all the stories of the same world together.
In terms of animal roles, the wolves in "Wolfwalker" echo the wolves in "The Secret of Kell". However, the "Wolfwalker" here is not the same as the "Elves in the Forest" in the previous work. In "The Secret of Kells", the elf Aisling once became a fish or a deer. The white wolf is only her temporary incarnation, she symbolizes Dreams, poems, spring and nature span time and are very detached. Some plots in "The Secrets of Kells" are even a little frightening. In contrast, the wolfwalker in this work is more like a medium for communication between humans and wolves, a soul that speaks for nature, and is more grounded. If you remember one of the posters of "The Secret of Kell"-the smiley face of the elves through the bushes-you can see a similar scene in "Wolfwalker", maybe this is an easter egg?
And the bird (is it an owl?) that appears in this work will also remind people of the villain owl in "Song of the Sea" (=゚ω゚)
When watching a movie, you will be shocked by the screen. The glowing line totem expresses the soul or power, and has a religious mystery. The smooth and harmonious beauty of these lines makes people breathless, and the sense of fluidity is particularly moving in the picture divided by geometric lines, which is quite reminiscent of our previous ink-and-wash animation movies...2D is really unique. The charm of it! In terms of the performance of "natural forces", it is only better than the previous work and not worse.
3️⃣Subject
I don't have much knowledge about Irish folklore, so it is difficult to analyze the metaphors. As an ordinary audience, in order not to be spoiled, I can only talk briefly about my feelings. Compared with the previous work, "The Secret of the Kell" tells the birth of an artistic legend, in which there are adventures and inheritance, friendship and family affection, and thinking about aggression; "Song of the Sea" is more beautiful, thinking about the indifference of the city, depicting The power of family affection and love tries to heal the pain of loss; "Wolfwalker" mainly outlines the contradiction between man and nature, connecting a line of friendship and two lines of family love, and finally interweaving the ending. The plot is not unexpected, it can be enjoyed easily, and may be reminiscent of Hayao Miyazaki's "Princess Mononoke" and "Nausicaa". Therefore, if you really want to criticize the plot of this work for lack of shortcomings and strength, it is a bit old-fashioned, you can also accept it.
✨That's all for now! Welcome to discuss with the friends after watching (=゚ω゚) Even if you are not watching the film festival, Apple’s apple TV+ will be launched soon. I heard that there are already Chinese companies negotiating to introduce it? Hope it will be released soon! ! ! At that time, go to make up the offline ticket again! ! !
I wish the director a long life, and hope that this team will last for a long time, and even if the Irish trilogy is over, they will continue to cooperate to produce beautiful animations (plain expectations)
