"I am Alfred Hitchcock. I have contributed many suspense movies to everyone, but this time I brought you all different from the past. The difference is that this is a true story. All the words are true, and the storylines of all mystery films I have filmed in the past are far more bizarre."

Synopsis

Manny is a cellist in a high-end bar, although his income is not very good.

But he has a beautiful wife Rose and two lovely sons, a family of four enjoy themselves.

In the early hours of this morning, he went home from get off work as usual, only to find that Rose was not asleep.

It turned out that the trouble of toothache kept her unable to sleep, and the high cost of treatment made her very worried.

Manny, who loved her so much, comforted her gently, and promised to find a way to get the money.

The next day, Manny took out an insurance contract. There was a sum of money recorded on the policy. If it could be taken out, the problem would be solved.

In this way, with the attitude of giving it a try, Manny came to the insurance company and asked about the requirements for the withdrawal of insurance money.

However, he was told that he needed his wife to come to the application, and in the process, he found that the front desk staff looked wrong.

What is even more strange is that when he returned home, several policemen were already waiting for him at his door and took him away involuntarily.

When Manny came to the police station, he realized that he had been treated as a robber with a wicked stain.

This robber robbed a lot of convenience stores and recently robbed insurance companies.

When the staff of the insurance company saw Manny, they determined that he was a robber and called the police.

After learning of the situation, Manny began to argue vigorously, claiming that he had never done such a thing.

But how could the police easily believe his words, they think the client's identification is very convincing.

In this way, Manny was treated as a suspect and locked up, and was told that he would be charged in the near future.

Rose was very panicked when she heard the news, she asked relatives to borrow a sum of money to bail Manny out.

But this is not enough, they must also find a way to prove that Manny is innocent.

As a result, the couple began to think back to where they went when the robbery happened, in order to find witnesses to prove themselves.

But God seemed to be joking with them, and the witness they found was dead.

The Mannys caused a big blow, especially Rose, who collapsed under pressure.

Seeing that the day of the trial is coming soon, where does Manny go...

Film Analysis

It's another Hitchcock movie, but this one I think is the most special, and its suspense may be the worst of Hitchcock's movies. The film is adapted from real events. It can be seen that Hitchcock himself also hopes to tell the story with a serious attitude. His usual way of appearance has even become an opening monologue, which is impressive.

Strictly speaking, this movie is not good-looking, and the rhythm is very slow. There is no banter or ridicule in the film. Instead, there is a dull and clear dialogue. There is nothing special about the plot setting. The plot is like a pipeline, without any waves. The only thing that impresses me is the use of a large number of first-view lenses, which substitute the audience into the situation from time to time. This also reflects Hitchcock's consistent level of maintaining an excellent atmosphere in a big boring film.

This is a heart-abuse story. The main line is similar to "Hunting" and "Mystic River". A person who has been wronged bears malice from the whole world. As viewers, we will be indignant for the male protagonist from the perspective of God. What impressed me in particular was that when it finally came to light, the people who had hurt the male protagonist did not even have a word of apologies. They didn’t know how much their actions had caused the male protagonist and his family.

"Innocent people don't need to be afraid." This sentence does not seem to have any problems, and it is what the film wants to discuss. But when we watch this movie, we all have questions about it. Isn't it true that we won't be afraid of ghosts knocking on the door if we don't do anything wrong? Obviously the answer is no. The protagonist loves his family and works hard, but suffers injustice because he looks like a robber. If the robber does not appear at the end of the film, I believe the ending will only be endless darkness. So when there are problems with the environment and the system itself, even the innocent people will be afraid.

Fortunately, this true story has a happy ending, which is much warmer than "The Hunt" and "Mystic River", but this process is a nightmare for anyone, and it is very likely. Become a frightened bird and affect your life. So the significance of this story as a film and television work on the screen is to tell us everyone that if everyone's criterion is to handle everything with a responsible attitude, maybe this tragedy will not happen again?

In a bad social environment and system, innocent people will feel scared, and they will still feel guilty if they haven't done bad things. The weakness and helplessness of ordinary people can only be felt by personal experience.
