Trapped beast fights

The beginning of the story is always so plain.

Under the blue sky of Seattle, Bernadette squatted in front of the bucket intently. Behind her was a whole strange-shaped house, blackberries raging everywhere, and strange stains and furniture all over the house. Her husband is a senior engineer at Microsoft, and her daughter is a good student with both good character and academic performance. Such a generous middle generation seemed nothing unusual at a glance, the only thing that stood out was the strange and weird villa that stood up.

However, at the end of the film’s development, we suddenly discovered that the dilapidation of this villa is not without reason-it is the inner reflection of Bernadette, whose heart is deserted, and this kind of life has also become a solid prison, firmly holding Bernadette was trapped in her heartbreak twenty years ago.

At the beginning of the story, Bernadette's frustration was revealed intentionally or unintentionally in a witty and humorous way. It is not hysterical at all, it is a very common dilemma that a frustrated genius will encounter in life. But Bernadette was too smart and too keen, and her subconscious reaction in the face of all frustration was to tell jokes and use humor to cover up the pain. But in the end, I was still disappointed. The beautiful shell could not conceal the battered heart. So she would wake up in the middle of the night and "slap" closed the computer that was playing her past glorious history. The tearful pupils in the dark night were so bright, until those fierce unwillingness gradually dimmed, and no one noticed it. Not known. In the Seattle library, the young girl excitedly told her that she admired her, but she subconsciously avoided and refused to connect with the past. It is mentioned in the original book that she sent Paul a very long email, and this paragraph in the movie was obscured and jumped directly to the conversation between her and Paul in the restaurant. This dialogue is a turning point for the whole film, and it really shows how deep her intentions are.

When you used to be a genius architect of LA, but by chance, you destroyed your award-winning genius work and you can only escape from LA. How do you face your own life?

No one helped Bernadette, even though she was so smart and talented. So she slowly turned into a sleepy beast. Although she looked good on the outside, all the seemingly weird behaviors were indescribably heartbroken and frustrated.

"If artists do not create, they will endanger society."

Bernadette raised his head and looked at Paul blankly, his eyes brightened because they were still red from the tears they had just dropped. This is one of my favorite clips in the whole film, where Bernadette finally faces his frustrated life in the past two decades for the first time. Before this, she was even ashamed to admit that she was “still obsessing with LA”, but after that, she tried to get out of those heartbreaks for the first time, and was drenched in the rain to see the city in front of her. Seattle spread out under her feet, and She finally regained the courage to start again.

Where'd you go Berdanette is a very feminist story, it intuitively shows how thoroughly the housewife’s life destroys a talented woman. The name Berdanette was replaced by "Bee's mom". Her husband's increasingly extended working hours at Microsoft prevented him from understanding Berdanette's plight. He deliberately or unintentionally, any genius architect had spent twenty years of talent. This is a kind of destruction for any talented person.

And what is more fortunate about Berdanette than countless women is that she is richer in choice because of her wealth. Even if she hasn't had a job for 20 years, she still has the capital and the ability to start again. What about more ordinary people who don't even have this opportunity? What if they are not so talented? They are silent in the narrative structure. But this is not just a matter of the script. The plight of East Asian women is already a hell model. Many times the plight of East Asia is invisible, and it is difficult to imagine that others cannot see it. People can discuss ME2 to discuss equal pay for equal work for men and women. What are we doing? We are discussing whether the girl wearing safety pants on CP 26 is a Welfare Ji.

Because I went to watch the movie after seeing the original work, I feel that the film can restore 90% of the original work. I deleted the part of the original book that made my angry husband cheat, and it will look smoother later. It was a match made in heaven to find Cate Blanchett to play Berdanette. After "Blue Jasmine", she found that she was really suitable for this kind of neurotic, broken-hearted role. From the bankrupt lady in Blue Jasmine to the female protagonist playing role-playing and SM in London to the heart-broken genius architect in Bernadette, when she wandered around in the attic anxiously, it was simply The regeneration of Berdanette in the original book is too suitable...a crystal-like beauty that is exquisite and fragile, this kind of neurotic temperament is unique. Finally, the scenery of Antarctica is also very beautiful.

What I love the most in the whole film is the scene where she was finally recognized at the South Pole. The scientist on the opposite side was too proud and got her a spot. Bernadette called her with a trembling voice and thanked her deeply. The plot design here is amazing. Her award-winning work destroyed 20 years ago is famous for her “zero waste, on-the-spot materials”, and 20 years later, her salvation for herself came from a trip to Antarctica that she was reluctant to avoid in all possible ways. For the opportunity to build a "zero waste" research station at the South Pole, there is no stage that fits her talents better than this.

Knowing that the beast was still fighting, Bernadette finally got out of her heartbreak. Twenty years after her talent was swallowed up, she was still able to show off in the Antarctic Circle. No one can trap a genius unless the genius exiles himself. The first half of "Where'd you go, Bernadette" tells the story of "the joys and sorrows of mankind are not interlinked", "how the former genius fell to bury dreams and hopes", while the second half is a story of redemption. This It is an artist's journey of self-salvation, and it is also a warm story about how we can understand each other and learn to love and be loved.

Where'd You Go, Bernadette quotes

  • Bernadette: I'll figure it out. I mean, that's what insomnia is for.

  • Bernadette: I guess I just wanted to leave LA in a snit, and when I determined that everyone felt sufficiently sorry for me unfurl my cape and swoop in to launch my second act and show those bastards who the true bitch goddess of architecture really is.
