"black" does not necessarily mean a rain of bullets. The plot of this movie is like the battle between the mother-in-law and the daughter-in-law, which is extremely exaggerated and distorted. It is very special. In fact, I think this is the best noir film I have ever seen, and it is much better than "Falling Water Dog" and "Pulp Fiction".
Martin Scorsese acted as the producer so that everyone raised his flag high. For a long time everyone thought it was his work.
ANYWAY, this is undoubtedly the best movie of John Cusack.
It is strange why the vulgar Hong Kong and Taiwan D businessmen did not translate the title into "The Passion Story of Two Women and a Man" this time. If this is the case, it is simply amazing: there is absolutely no other word that can sum up this movie so cleverly. The three big and small liars are similar to their son, daughter-in-law and mother-in-law. They all bluff and deceive everywhere, but there is still a level of difference between them. The mother-in-law worked on behalf of the underworld and manipulated the horse betting situation; the daughter-in-law “is said” once had a good time, and cooperated with her partner to defraud the investment of the wealthy businessman. In fact, she lived by the color. Let's cheat on something to eat and drink.
The mother and son have not seen each other for eight years, and the husband and wife have only known each other for two months, and they are not too active. But the battle between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law is really eye-opening and eye-opening! My mother-in-law wore a flaming red suit and poked her ass at her daughter-in-law with a smile that made me almost fall off the chair! Not only does it have to be better than someone with a big breast and butt, the most important thing is who is better than someone who can hold his son (husband) tight. coax! Can't coax it! Can't deceive, use scare! "Take off" if you are not scared! If you don't know everything well, you will beat the opponent to death! I've seen all the meanings of nonsense, chasing after the wind and catching the shadows, and making firewood and raging fire.
John CUSACK also seems to be a little tempting with the small cherry mouth. It's not a big deal, and it's just a trick when it comes to ability. When the bar cheats and drinks, he is beaten into stomach bleeding. To be honest, I am I really don't see the value of this little uselessness worthy of the two women fighting so hard.
If this is the case, this film would be nothing to watch. In fact, the audacity of this film has reached the point of outrageous. Not because of the cynicism in film noir, but because the film targets all the "subversion" at one of the most beautiful titles in the world: mother.
The son didn't want to look at her when his mother saved his life. The film never clearly explained what was the relationship between the son and the mother before that caused the re-encounter eight years later to be so embarrassing. This mystery waited until the "husband and wife" broke out before revealing to the audience: the mother and the son had a record of incest in the early years. It was the real reason that caused the son to run away from home when he was 17. This is a blow, it's just a preview.
When the mother was desperate, in order to take away her son’s "life-saving money", the same sentence was repeated three times: "What should I do to take this money?" The commission entity showed how desperate animals in the world are willing to make to survive: He didn't hesitate to expose his own scars, and used the past history of incest as a cannonball to bombard his own son - a hot kiss that made a person's back become cold. Just as the audience and the son were fainted together before they had time to react, the last blog completely shattered all the historical meaning of the term "mother".
The last part of the film is unbearable to witness.
I have discussed with my friends about the subversion of "maternity" in "ALIEN3". In my opinion, the alien embryo parasitized in the body is not enough to be understood as the heroine's "flesh and blood". The result of its final annihilation is actually no different from the process of taking anthelmintics. However, "ALIEN3" does have a contradictory interpretation of "motherhood": the process of RIPLEY forcing the prison doctor to dissect the little girl's body is one step. On the one hand, he regrets the fact that his "adopted" daughter has unfortunately died; on the other hand, he has compromised with the terrifying power of fear. After all, RIPLEY has not yet reached the level of "human unity" in the later episode. (By the way, it would be great if the fourth episode were to use this to make it difficult for the audience to choose between humans and aliens!)
In contrast, the motherhood in "GRIFTERS" is very real and credible, albeit in a different way. When the son is sick, the wife only knows how to make fun when he comes. The mother sends the dying son to the doctor. After all, it is the mother who really cares about the son. No matter how exaggerated the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law battle, it actually strengthens the authenticity of "motherhood". The mother in the film repeatedly grabbed her son’s painful foot, and repeatedly stifled his self-confidence to persuade him to change his evil and return to righteousness in order to prevent her son from being harmed; even the last mother’s desperate grief does not seem to be artificial.
JOHN CUSACK also said to himself in the film: "The son can't tell his mother if he has something, who else can he tell?"
Because of this, "GRIFTERS" is a complete subversion in the true sense. The male "Oedipus" "Plot" is distorted and exaggerated to the point of horrifying. I had already watched how many noir films I was still dumbfounded, and I didn't know how to react until the ending song sounded.
Even though he was only a producer, Martin Scorsese chose such a movie and he swears not to give up. The pope almost came to fight him desperately in the filming of Jesus. I am a little surprised why such a movie did not arouse global public outrage, otherwise women all over the world could spit him to death.
Gossip: The ANNETTE BENING ten years ago and the wife in "American Beauty" ten years later seem to be the same: the same crow's feet, the same brilliant smile, and the same full-fledged beauty (no derogatory meaning, in response to the old saying: Precocious people age slowly). Her performance in the film is amazing and very classic.
To be slightly demeaning, there is a strange loophole in the plot that is logically
incomprehensible : a person can be so calm that he will not run away immediately after a murder, and he also knows how to steal the identity of the deceased to escape the police's ears. There is no reason not to take it when fleeing. Taking the huge sum of money in the trunk of his car, he ran to his son's house to steal his private money. Because when the police asked his son to come to recognize the body, he also specifically mentioned: "Your mother has a lot of money in the car."
Even if the money was stolen from the boss of the underworld, of course it was black money whose source could not be traced. There should be no danger in taking the money away, so it doesn't make sense at all. The screenwriter either thinks too much or doesn't use his brains at all! Such a mentally handicapped loophole shouldn't appear in such a movie at all.
Hypothesis: The mother did not deliberately exchange identities with the deceased and was mistaken for being dead, and she had no way to go back and drive her car after the murder, so when the son recognized the corpse, he inherited the "heritage" of the mother's trunk. , The money belongs to the son. The mother no longer "stole" the money but "retrieved" her own money, but was rejected by the son. The reason can be the same as in the film, or it can be played a little more: you have to compensate you for not fulfilling your mother's responsibilities for many years. . . such as. In this way, whether the last psychological warfare will be more powerful and sensational, making it more difficult for the audience to choose. . .
That would be even more subversive. how do you feel?
