I feel that the rhythm and atmosphere of the whole film are quite different in the first half and the second half.
The first half: 1. Various creations of suspense: all kinds of shadows, noises, breathing, all kinds of weird at night 2. Grandma, where did you go before, why didn't you tell me? 3. Don't say so much foreshadowing, do you want to engage in art?
The second half: 1. The turning point was when the granddaughter found the secret compartment of the closet; 2. Regarding another decadent house after the secret compartment, the director did not give any hints. I once suspected that this was a different world (we see more of strange things) , And it is a different world in different time and space, so that it can explain the sound that the granddaughter and daughter heard in the opening movie, or the current granddaughter knocks, although the time and space in the different world are different, but there is a response (refer to Weird Story). Of course, I finally found out that I was thinking too much. 3. I didn’t expect that the decaying room could be opened back. What about the decaying room, why are you playing around Madara 5. So what is the weird window that moved back from my grandfather's house?
Although many people say that this is a kind of care for the empty-nest elderly and Alzheimer's patients, it is inevitably too general and hasty. And, there are not too many hints and too many unexplained pits. So, if you say it is caring, I say that aliens are fine. If there is no evidence, everyone just imagines... Summary: It's not a jump scare-style "Call of Souls", nor a spiritual fear of "The Shining", it's more like an overturned version of "Genetic Doom".
Most importantly, don't believe the "Best of the Year", "Rotten Tomatoes 100", "Beyond xxx" and "xx Push" on the Internet.
