When I watched "Mirror Mask" for the first time, I watched it for fifteen minutes and felt impatient, so I changed to another movie. On the afternoon after Christmas, I came back from outside and my family was watching it. This 20-minute film, and I was immediately attracted.
No other movie has such a wonderful and fantastic picture, even the eerie and creepy "CELL"-I still remember the horse who was cut into countless pieces by glass in that movie. Coincidentally, this is also a movie about dreams, and in this low-cost British movie, the dream scenes are even more bizarre, without the feeling of horror. It is a pure strangeness.
From the very beginning, I was attracted by those imaginative and simple objects, whether it’s a cat with a human face or a flying book, or a fish swimming in the air...the kind of bizarre but concise lines, only full of Only a person who is pure and dreamy can be drawn. What impressed me especially was one of the sad episodes. The girl with soft hair and soft lips turned into a black princess with black lipstick and black eyeshadow. There is no fear in this transformation, only a gentle sadness.
The story is very simple and clear. There is no such obscure plot as in "Earthquake Tuner". The child travels in the black and white world in the dream, saving kindness, experiencing betrayal, and finally getting happiness and love. It seems that , Seems a bit romantic, but what about it? The little girl in simple pajamas and bunny slippers experienced growth and found love in such a long dream.
And this kind of love is not purely beautiful and romantic. For Helena, the young man named Valentine (which means lover, I remember the son of flashback is the English name) is not so ideal and loyal. He was flustered and rapped and once lost and betrayed himself, but, like all ordinary people, he has an undiminished conscience and love, which brought him back to the bright world and saved goodness with her.
Obviously, this kind of plot is not profound or impactful, but such a clear and shallow story is very suitable for those bizarre pictures. Only in such a fantasy but beautiful vision, beauty is so fascinating. For a Christmas day when the cold wind is roaring outside and the house is warm as spring, this mood is no better.
