The thriller I’m going to talk about today is completely because my family told me about this fairy tale when I was a kid, so it became one of my childhood shadows.
This movie is called "Great and Hansel", it's very difficult to remember right, so I will use "Terror Candy House" to make it easier, but please don't confuse "Escape from Deadly Town" Jordan Peel producer "Candy Man" and "Candy Man" won’t be released until June this year.
"Terror Candy House" is adapted from the famous German Grimm's fairy tale of the same name. You should be familiar with Grimm's fairy tales, such as "The Frog Prince", "Cinderella", "Seven Dwarfs and Snow White", "Little Red Riding Hood" and so on.
The fairy tales of the Brothers Grimm are dominated by romanticism, and part of it comes from Nordic mythology, as well as folklore and ballads, so the story of the Brothers Grimm will have a certain mysterious atmosphere.
Most of Grimm's fairy tales are related to the noble class at that time, because at the beginning of the 19th century, most of the people who could afford to read the story were nobles.
Of course, the Brothers Grimm also have stories about topics that are close to the poor. For example, the "Terror Candy House" we are going to talk about today, the meaning behind it is to reflect the suffering of the poor people caused by the great famine in the Middle Ages.
"Terror Candy House" is about two brothers and sisters Gretel and Hansel, who were driven out of their homes by their mothers due to the great famine. When they were hungry and hungry in the forest, they came across a strange black triangle house in which a house lived. A mysterious old lady, the old lady greeted the brothers and sisters warmly. What is important is that the food in the old lady’s home is inexhaustible.
So the brothers and sisters decided to stay temporarily, but as the days went on, sister Grete found various strange places in the house, and thus discovered the amazing secrets of the old lady and the house.
As a small-cost movie, "Terrorist Candy House" is a very careful calculation regardless of the characters, characters, scenes and special effects.
Up to now, the word-of-mouth score of Rotten Tomatoes has been polarized. The Tomato Index of professional film critics is 63% and the pass is good, but the popcorn index of the public is only a poor 22%.
After watching the movie, my score decided to choose between the two.
It's true that this "Terror Candy House" is different from the past American fast food thrillers. There is no cheap sudden sound to scare people, and there are no tons of plasma blasts, and even the makeup doesn't bother to lean in the scary direction.
Therefore, audiences who have watched the scary trailer, if you watch this movie with the above-mentioned purpose, you will be disappointed. The pace of the film is slow and the story is too simple. Sophia Lilith from "The Clown" is nothing. Highlight the acting skills, the ending turn is too sloppy and even a little stellar. The most important thing is that as a thriller horror film, one, point, all, no, scare, people.
So it's no wonder that the public finds it difficult to accept such an obscure thriller horror film.
Of course, I can also understand the praise given by professional filmmakers. Indeed, "Terror Candy House" is very strange. The frame ratio is not the mainstream 2.35:1, but is close to the ancient 4:3 frame. The film takes more time. , To create an atmosphere of mystery and trepidation, pay attention, the mystery and treacherousness and horror I am talking about are two different things. Mystery and treacherousness can make people feel uncomfortable but curious, and horror and horror are simply scary.
In addition, the composition of the film and the light and shadow, and the editing that deliberately interrupted the sense of narrative, make people feel that there is a so-called literary temperament, but I think it is more of a mystery, because there is no intention behind it.

For me, it’s okay to pave the way too much. After all, many mainstream commercial movies enter the main story after half an hour, especially those of the horror genre. There is a long pavement, but when it starts to be really scary, it will make the audience forget. Long bedding ahead.
So the real problem with "Terrorist Candy House" is that after the brothers and sisters entered the candy house, the narrative rhythm did not increase, but the grievance between the old lady and Grete. However, most of the audience had seen Green. The story of the fairy tale, it is also clear that the old lady is the stalk of fattening the child and then eating it, but most of the time in the film is to come and go to hide this so-called secret mystery, which makes people feel very boring.
Of course, the film later also sought a breakthrough in adaptation. It turns out that Grete is also a potential witch. She can sense the black power from the dark world, so the old lady witch deliberately teaches Grete and makes Grete his successor. This may be the meaning. In fact, the film did not explain it very clearly.
Anyway, the setting of this plot is for the third act of Grete to save his brother Hansel. In the end, Grete uses his beginner magic to save his younger brother who is about to be BBQ by the witch.
In the end, Grete himself became a witch, releasing the souls of children who had been mutilated by the old witch.
This kind of plot turn is not only blunt, but it has already been guessed that the whole movie has no waves, and it is unimpressive at any level. It is no wonder that most audiences who want to seek horror and excitement give the film low scores.
It’s worth mentioning that after watching the movie, I went back to the original story of the Brothers Grimm. The story behind the story is that after the old lady wanted to fatten up the siblings, one day the old lady lied to Grete, saying that the oven was broken and let Grete went in and took a look. Grete pretended to be stupid and didn't understand, so the old lady went into the oven to demonstrate by herself. Seeing this, Grete turned off the oven and baked the old lady.
This is not the point. The point is that I recalled the story my family told me when I was a child. It was not the original version, let alone the plot of the movie.
The version my family talked about is that after the brothers and sisters arrived at the old lady’s house, they were locked in a small cage by the old lady. The old lady passed food in every day and wanted to feed the siblings to fat and then eat them, but the cage was too dark. So the old lady could only let her go in and touch the child's arm to see if she became fat or thick.
But the clever brothers and sisters took up a thin stick every time, pretending to be their own arms, and touched them to the old lady. After many days, the old lady found that the siblings had not become fat, so she opened the cage and the two were raised strong and strong. The fat sibling escaped. The siblings were full and strong, and the old lady was naturally no match.
