Film Review Chapter 555 "Candy House"-Black Horror Fairy Tale
The horror film "Candy House" premiered in the United States on January 31.
This film is adapted and shot based on the fairy tale of the same name by the Brothers Grimm.
The summary of the original fairy tales of the Brothers Grimm is as follows:
Hansel and Gretel are the children of a poor woodcutter. Fearing lack of food, the woodworker's wife, who is the stepmother of the children, persuaded the woodworker to take the children to the forest and abandon them. Hansel and Gretel heard their plan, so they collected small stones in advance and threw them on the ground so that they could find their way home along the small stones. After they came back, their stepmother persuaded the carpenter to throw them in the forest again; this time, they laid out breadcrumbs along the road. Unfortunately, the breadcrumbs were eaten by the animals in the forest, so Hansel and Gretel got lost in the forest.
In the forest, they found a house made of bread, and the windows were made of candies. The owner of the house is an old woman, she invites them into the house and entertains them with a feast. However, the old woman was actually a bad witch. She built this house to lure the children so that she could fatten the children and slaughter them to eat. She locked Hansel, and asked Gretel to serve her, and asked her to feed Hansel a lot of food to fatten him. The witch would always go to Hansel’s cell and ask him to stick out his fingers and take a look. Hansel will deliberately take out the small bones if he gains weight or not. Because of his age and poor eyesight, the witch thinks that those small bones are Hansel’s fingers. He has eaten so much and hasn’t gained weight. Can't wait, decided to cook Hansel directly. When she was preparing to cook Hansel to eat, she asked Gretel to climb into the furnace to confirm, but Gretel guessed that the witch was going to roast her to eat, so she tricked the witch into crawling into the furnace and put the witch alive. Scalded to death.
After the children found and took away all the jewels in the witch's house, they found their way home and reunited with their father. At this time, the children's stepmother was dead, and they lived a happy life ever since.
The director adapted the fairy tale of the same name into a horror movie, which is also a witch who eats a child, but the house in the forest is not a candy house, but a black house full of horror and oppressive atmosphere.
The story itself originated from the general abandonment caused by the famine in the hard life of the Middle Ages, and played a role in admonishing children. In the original version of Brothers Grimm, there was no stepmother, and it was the child's biological mother who persuaded the father to abandon the two children. The later version was modified to stepmother in consideration of social influence and adopted the same routine as "Snow White".
Real life is far more terrifying than novels or black fairy tales, and the siblings in this film do not have a happy life together.
The younger brother pursues his own life, while the older sister becomes a witch herself.
The film is derived from fairy tales, and the atmosphere of horror is not very strong. The film uses a large number of dark-tone lenses to enhance the film’s horror atmosphere.
Recommend this movie to viewers who like horror movies.
I wish you a nice weekend.
