Put it in front, there is a saying, this film review is not right for the film.
Because I still like Taylor. I had a crush on Taylor for a while in "1989". I probably listened to all Taylor's songs and bought her deluxe and regular CDs. The episode that came out of "Reputation" was actually a polite chase, but it really didn't like it much anymore, as the documentary said: "When people don't love you anymore, they don't love you anymore." , It's very real, probably because of aesthetic fatigue, I haven't listened to a Taylor song in revenge for more than two years. When I got to "Lover", I didn't even listen to it because I had to pay, I just watched mv. However, when I heard the familiar old melody again in the documentary, I had to say that Yijiu was very kind, all traces of time, and even the body couldn't help but want to move with the melody.
To say so much, it is all nostalgia, and I have loved Taylor. This is also the original motivation for me to start this documentary at the first time. Then come back to the film itself.
As soon as the documentary came, Taylor was pulled from the high altar-"Reputation" did not get any Grammy nomination, making her a fragile girl next door like us. Her sadness moistened her eyes, but she did not complain. She said that she would work hard to make a better CD. This approach can easily win the sympathy of the audience, which is like whitewashing the characters. There is no derogatory meaning here, including when facing the difficulties of the media, we can feel too empathetic to the powerlessness in this complex society. As the movie said: It's just a lose-lose situation, so in this world, who is not worthy of being loved? It's not so much sympathy for Taylor, it's more sympathy for us, human beings.
The film shows Taylor's fragile side, the attacked side, which is what we all have. However, the film suddenly turned to Taylor's political attitude. The film did not go deep into Taylor's transformation. It boils down to a few words: 1) I want to make the next album. 2) I want to eat well, I look pregnant better than I look sick. 3) I have an undisclosed boyfriend. There is almost no argument in the film, which is superficial. But she is Taylor, the Taylor who is so loved by thousands of people. The film makes Taylor no longer special, and becomes one of thousands of ordinary girls. "Taylor Swift: Miss Americana" has become "Every girl: Miss." "Americana", so far, the film has completely erased Taylor's brightest light and lost her unique character charm.
The final point of the film is the change in Taylor’s attitude towards political positions. She went from being afraid of others to accuse her of her political position and banning her to her daring to stand up and speak out for the female group. The latter half of the film is all about this. Taylor keeps talking about her. I am not afraid of how the media will report on her, but the more repetitive the film, the more people feel Taylor cares. I don't know what the original intention of this documentary was, but half of it seems to be saying: I stand for women's rights, so don't blame me. I want to say, of course I don’t think this is Taylor’s goal, but the overall direction of the film has led to this direction. On the contrary, Trump's open-minded phrase "My love for Taylor's songs has decreased by 25%", but it makes people look up to him. I am deeply puzzled by the intention of the film's creator.
This is a documentary, not a feature film, so the truth and cruelty of this world tends to be more profound. In the first half, Taylor enthusiastically began to prepare her more perfect new album (Lover), which made people see her talent, passion and dedication. However, Taylor still failed to win any awards on the Grammys not long ago, which is involuntary. Sorry, of course there are many problems within the Grammy itself, but this is also the last straw that crushes the overall structure of the film. There are stories in this world where too much effort has not been rewarded.
After watching the video, I am going back to listen to the song. Taylor is a good girl, no more
