This fateful encounter began in 1986. At that time, his father gave Harris a biography of Pollock: "Jackson Pollock: American Legend". The photo of the man on the cover made Harris feel like himself, and both of them had a habit of drinking. A peculiar feeling made Harris regard the shooting of this biography as a goal of his life.
For the next 10 years, Harris changed his life according to Pollock’s habit, smoking camel cigarettes without a filter, learning "drip painting", lying on the bed in Pollock’s former residence and experiencing the painter’s complex thoughts...
This biographical film was later ruined. Mixed. But the actress who played Pollack's wife won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress with this film. Some people think that this film does not sufficiently explore Pollack's heart, nor does it provide an in-depth analysis of his creative techniques.
For this movie, the most impressive thing is that at the end of the film, his wife travels to Europe, Pollack and his little girlfriend are mixed together, but become lonely, lying on the bed alone, curled up like a baby waiting for the protection of his mother. At that moment, how could he be so lonely. The little girlfriend came to tell him to go to play, he shouted at her to go out, still curled up quietly, wiped his face with his hand, tears slid down.
Pollock should be considered a genius, but there are also many things that ordinary people can't stand. He is alcoholic, bad-tempered, selfish, and doesn't care how others feel. But his wife became his most powerful supporter out of love for him and admiration for his genius. She took care of everything for him, and even rejected his idea of having a baby. The reason is that you are a talented painter and all your energy should be used for creation.
He never seemed to realize this. Argue with her and continue to drink. Once I yelled at her, I never loved you, so get out of here as soon as possible.
But the female painter tolerated all this. She said, this is my house and I will not leave. Pollack and his new girlfriend swagger around to meet their friends. The wife just reminded him. Pollack’s explanation for this was that she was my last chance. He walked upstairs nonchalantly. The wife groaned a little, and only said one thing, I won't get a divorce.
Later she went to Europe and invited him to go with him. He said, you are you, I am me, you want to go by yourself. The wife is gone. He was lying on the bed with his little girlfriend, and the girl asked him, if you go back in time, who do you want to be the most, he said, want to be you. At this time, the phone rang, and he picked it up to listen. It was his wife. She said that the passport could not be found, and she might have to come back to get it. It won't be long before she said that she found it, so she doesn't need to come back to get it. Putting down the phone, he said blankly, I owe this woman the love I will never end for a lifetime. He seemed to have come over all of a sudden, everything before. The little girlfriend listened and said, what is she, I really love you. He has nothing to say. But loneliness has swept him from then on.
Until later, because of the absence of another person, she curled up on the bed and cried quietly. Sometimes what is love? Love is the kind of mutual dependence, a kind of dependence that transcends sensuality. It exists like air. Ignorance. When I lost it, I felt that my life was all messed up.
Life was in chaos. He drove like crazy, taking his little girlfriend and her girlfriend, and ignoring their scolding and tears, he sprinted forward until the car crashed and died. The little girlfriend survived and is said to have become a painter.
Because of this movie, I have seen a kind of loneliness and a kind of unspeakable love. I think it is a good movie for me.
The inscription at the end of the film, dedicated to my father and mother. People have a very warm feeling.
