"After the Wedding" ★★★ Director: Susanna Biel. Starring: Maiz Mickelson, Ralph Raskard. In 2006,

this was another film beyond the scope of my understanding. It was not because of complexity, but a deviation from the recognition of values. The film is led by a charitable donation to peep into the inner world of the donors, and gradually show the viewer a moral story about life and death, and family ethics. It is difficult for a thorough mortal to understand Ergan’s behavior in the face of death. When death is inevitable, Ergan tries his best to arrange things behind him, protect his family from harm, and minimize the impact of his death as much as possible. At the very least, he even used all means to integrate his wife’s ex-husband into his family, because he understood that this was a good person who could take care of his family for him. As someone said, noble people would avoid giving up. Others cause trouble. However, Ergan also had a fear of death. In the bedroom after the birthday dinner, Ergan shouted in pain, and the actor's outstanding performance made everything truly sad. Or what the director wants to tell us is that if death is inevitable, we should at least let the living people live well.

The director frequently gives a close-up of eyes or lips in the film, which is very innovative, but it does not seem to be very referent, or the director thinks that these facial details are more likely to express emotions.

This film is so perfect. The music at the beginning and the end of the movie is praised. At first, I didn’t understand it at the end, but later I thought it was handled too well~~

After the Wedding quotes

  • Jørgen Lennart Hannson: I am sick, damn it! I'm the one that is out of time. Jacob, I am dying. You have to stay and do what we have decided. Anna will need you... And Helene... And the boys... They're so young, Jacob. Look at me, Jacob! Don't you see that there is a point to all of this? You have a responsibility here, Jacob. Do I have to live on the other side of the world to get your help?

  • Helene Hannson: I want to come with you.

Jørgen Lennart Hannson: No, out of the question. You don't want to, Helene. It's sons and their father in the woods. Or else they'll turn out gay.
