High expectations

I can't live without expectations for Kurosawa, especially the Delsu he interprets. But this movie disappointed me. The most glamorous part of Del Su in the original book is forgotten by the movie. Del Su, who is like a quick and free cheetah in nature, disappears. What we see is a hunter who is optimistic and capable, but thin in image. The whole film has a heavy philosophical taste, but there is a danger of falling into preaching.
Kurosawa is good at talking about human nature, but he rarely stumbles in front of Del Su. I don't know why.
Many details make me dissatisfied with this film. For example, Kurosawa chose a crowd of Mongolian descent to play Delsu, but in fact, hunters in the Ussuri Mountains should not have the iconic O-shaped legs of the Mongols (the result of long-term horse riding?) , I don’t remember that there are such O-shaped legs on Del Su’s photo in the original book. These legs make people look really uncomfortable.
There are still some great masterpieces worth seeing. Xingkai Lake is risky for a period of time. The sunset at the end of the horizon is blurred by the wind and snow. In the close view, Delsu and Captain are desperately cutting the reeds to get their lives. There is no such courage.
