In the last hour of the film, Vera's expression was painful and sad, and her tight brows and tight lips trembled involuntarily. She was sentenced, and the sentence was also due to her love.
This film once again ruthlessly denies the absolute justice and omnipotence of the law. No matter how you look at it, Vera's actions are more pros than cons. It can even be said that she helps girls to have abortions, and she is not essentially different from taking care of sick neighbors. Everyone knows that if these girls cannot abort the fetuses in their stomachs, what awaits them and their children will be even more terrifying fate. But the law is rigid and strict, and it undoubtedly played a disappointing role in this story. If the police and judges are the physical incarnations of the law, they are equally disappointing. For "procedural needs", they forced Vera to remove the ring that had been worn on her finger for 27 years; instead of telling Vera's "crime" to her husband, they asked Vera to speak out in extreme pain. ...
The attitude of Vera's son is intriguing. I used to think that he would understand his mother's behavior, but the fact is: he scolded his mother as "dirty", he kept emphasizing that "that is a fetus" and "has no right to do this." I don't fully understand the director's arrangement. In my opinion, young people should be representatives of new ideas, and should not oppose abortion from a conservative standpoint. Maybe the director wanted to strike a balance in the film.
The last thing I want to say is that I really like the tone and music of the film, and everything in Europe always fascinates me. :)
