As a musical, the whole movie is like the Korean group Wonder Girl who was dancing Nobody non-stop many years ago. Those who dance may be you and me who are forced to perform at the annual meeting, or they may be stars who participate in variety shows to gain attention. It's just that the protagonist of this movie is positioned as a popular female singer.
Natalie Portman's acting skills are not particularly brilliant in this movie. The expressiveness of the emotional breakdown before the concert is similar to the breakdown before the performance in Black Swan , but not as good as that. But I especially like her makeup. The silver-gray eye shadow and diamond-modified brow bone line, as well as the fuchsia lipstick with blue sequins, the phosphor blush, and the hair covered with silver gel, especially reflect the role. That kind of inner bipolar disorder and dismissive strength.
Why is the heroine's role setting strong? The permanent spine injury and psychological persecution caused by the school shooting at the beginning will be a lifelong shadow for any person. The heroine likes music, but she has no talent for her sister. Because she is a survivor, she replaced her speech with a song in her speech, so she was excavated and cultivated as a hero of the era, and she began to become a star. But all of her songs were written by her sister Eleanor, but Eleanor raised her daughter in obscurity, and was even scolded for failing to prevent her daughter’s premature love (because her daughter’s menstruation did not come in time, she might be like her accidental pregnancy). The dialogues between her as a mother and daughter in the play seem to be too much. It may be that Raffey Cassidy, the actor of her daughter, is too beautiful. The director especially wants to give her more shots, but what are these shots to express? Is it to show Celeste deep in his heart or yearning for the simple life of ordinary people? Because she almost didn't even have the opportunity to enjoy lunch alone, what she did was watched by the public. Even the perpetrator of a frenzied shooting murder case on the beach wore her classic MV image headgear, which required her to be cautious in her words and deeds.
A dialogue before the concert can better reflect the setting of the character
Are we gonna be good? No!
Are we gonna be great? No!
Are we gonna be amazing? No!
Then what are we gonna be? Phenomenal!
Although the heroine is a Bitch, she was made in this era! She was created by a series of events! (The dance is really not pretty!)
Ps: I watched this film for Jude Law. The male god is just a foil. I don't comment on it.
What do you say about Sia's soundtrack? Some of the songs are quite catchy, but I don't like the whole music. I have always liked Sia’s personal work, from the extremely sad breathe me created by her losing her boyfriend to the army, to the hot Chandelier , but it is still a lot worse than the soundtrack made by Thom Yorke for Suspiria . , But now more and more pop singers are starting to make film soundtracks........
