The miracle of "The Reunification" to change ordinary people

Adapted from Hitchcock's Oral Real Events

I remember that when I was in high school, the school also played Hunan Satellite TV's variety show "Transformation". The content of the program probably made a poor child in a mountainous area and a rich child in the city exchange identities and experience a different life.

At that time, I felt that the program was quite good, because in the end the children in the city were no longer rebellious, and the children in the mountains also saw the colorful world outside.

Later, I saw some comments saying that this show was actually very unfair to children in mountainous areas. It made young children feel that it showed a huge gap in life. Being too realistic would dampen the enthusiasm of the children.

Therefore, I am no longer interested in this program, but I remember the slogan of the program very clearly: Deformation meter, a miracle that changes ordinary people!

Closer to home, the movie "The Reunion" is not a story in which two people exchange identities, but the comedy movie "Upside Down" is such a movie, and I have the opportunity to watch it again.

But "The Reunification" is also a story about an ordinary person. The male protagonist Chris is a cellist who works in a bar and lives with his wife Rose and two children. Although his life is not well-off, he is considered happy.

The Chris family is Italian-American living in New York City and attaches great importance to family relationships, so Chris goes home on time every day to accompany his wife and children. His only hobby is occasional horse betting.

Although Chris doesn't make much money, his wife and children love him very much. One day after get off work, his wife Rose hasn't slept for a long time because of his wisdom teeth. It costs $300 to remove his wisdom teeth, which is not a small sum.

Chris comforted Rose that he would fix the money problem. Next, Chris took Rose's insurance policy and went to the insurance company for a loan, but he did not return for a long time.

What happened? It turned out that the lady at the counter of the insurance company found that Chris was particularly like the person who robbed here some time ago, and they called the police.

When Chris returned to the door, the police had been waiting here for a long time, so he could not help but brought him into the police station for interrogation. Then take Chris to the shop that was robbed for identification, compare his notes, and ask the lady at the counter to come and identify.

Unfortunately, all the evidence indicated that the culprit was Chris. Then Chris was confused by the police and became a suspect and was sent to prison.

At this moment, their family was just in love, everyone pooled money to release Chris on bail, but he had to prove that he was innocent and show his alibi.

Chris and Rose were outside on vacation when the accident happened. Their friends who played cards together can testify, but by coincidence, the people playing cards with him either died or disappeared.

Everything fell into despair again. At this time, the lawyer they owed money to hire seemed to have found evidence of innocence. At that time, Chris' teeth were swollen except for the problem, and the eyewitnesses did not say this detail.

When I was about to be happy for Chris, the highly-paid and confident lawyers kept repeating some insignificant details during the trial, which led to the judge's decision to postpone the trial.

The room leaked even night rain. At this time, the wife could not bear the tremendous mental and material pressure, and her mental breakdown was broken.

She even began to suspect that Chris was the robber, and then took all the fault to herself. If Chris was not allowed to go to the insurance company, this would not have happened.

Good people have misfortunes one after another, but innocent people have been wronged and imprisoned to pursue their innocence alone. This is a great irony to the judicial police system. As an ordinary Chris, how can he prove his innocence?

I won't be spoiled.

This time, Xi Pang’s appearance is different from previous guest appearances in the film. Instead, he said in his own tone at the beginning of the film: I am Hitchcock. This is a true story. People thought they were watching a TV series hosted by him. The plot of this movie is simple. It has a taste of those noir films made by Fritz Lang when he arrived in Hollywood. It's pretty good. But the happy ending is not in line with the setting of film noir

From the real New York scenes shot continuously at the beginning of the film (clubs, street police, empty subway stations, newspaper advertisements, Queens neighborhoods next to the railway), Hitchcock absorbed realism into fear, why a Can eyes create an unjust case? What is the scene scheduling of the justice system (what does it allow us to see or not)? How does capitalism cause mental illness? How does it blame others? Hitchcock showed how these problems are connected, and the quiet and precise images followed one after another, which was suffocating.
