Topic: Should an excellent author's film express the author's personal thoughts and style to the greatest extent, or should it be basic to be viewed by a broad audience? In terms of your personal viewing experience, what is (one of) the best author movies you have ever seen? Please analyze and explain the basic themes and image characteristics of the film’s author and the outstanding features of the film in combination with the classroom teaching content.

Regarding the first question, I have already written my opinion in the previous film reviews on "The Virgin Spring", so I won't repeat it.

Speaking of author movies, first of all, I have Woody Allen, Kitano Takeshi, etc. in my mind. The reason is very simple. They not only include the director, editor, and screenwriter, but also often star in their own movies. From the time we are now, it is natural to mention a certain film and say that it is a film by a certain "director". Therefore, it is natural to find a film by the best author I have ever seen and find a film that I have seen. The difficulty of the most outstanding movie is almost the same. However, if I have to look for it, there are still some "author" films that impressed me deeply. Here I want to talk about the first part of the trilogy of Swedish director Roy Anderson's life, "Songs from the Second Floor" ".

Roy Anderson's life trilogy has gone through nineteen years, and in these years he has only made such three feature films. This is a series of ukiyo-e pictures of a series of tragedies of modern human civilization that are told in an absurd comedy way. In fact, these trilogy must be discussed as a whole, because both in terms of images and themes, they are too similar, almost the same film. But there is also a slight difference between them, that is, Roy Anderson's eyes are getting farther and farther away from the world, and the closer they are, the closer they are to the God who is watching the world with cold eyes. There is a word that seems appropriate to describe: the great wise man is not sad.

Let me talk about its image characteristics first, this is the commonality of the trilogy. Its images are extremely cold even in the quiet Nordic movies. The pale face, the long lens, the wide-angle panoramic view, and the collection of short stories "narrative", just the sum of these terms is already Ukiyo-e.

Regarding the first element, all the actors in the trilogy are non-professional actors, all with heavy makeup, regardless of gender, but they are not gorgeous makeup, but pale makeup like the Victorian theater, but I don’t think it. This is to get closer to the theater performance. I think it is to show that modern people are sub-healthy both physically and spiritually. The use of non-professional actors is another way to fully control one's own films besides starring oneself, but this method may only be used in Ukiyo-e-type films. In addition, the actors in this film show almost expressionless faces and very few body movements, which in turn makes the audience pay a lot of attention to the very profound lines, so that I give birth to the feeling of "not gorgeous Shakespeare" .

The second and three elements should be discussed together. The shots used by the director are all long shots, not flowing long shots, not long shots controlled by excellent scene scheduling, but completely still, and even this stillness is not supported by the superb acting skills of the actor. , And just set up a video camera, coldly taking pictures of what happened before me. This icy feeling is even more impressive under the full wide-angle panoramic lens, and the composition of each lens is extremely elegant. I have observed that many main characters are active in the background, while some minor characters that are only part of the composition are active in the foreground. At this time, the main characters are all at the golden section of the frame. In addition, these lenses are very deep and layered. In this case, there will often be activities in the foreground and the background at the same time.

The "narrative" of the collection of short stories is the fourth element. The reason why the quotation marks are added here is that it is not linear, but parallel. It is only a presentation without cause, course, and result. Since "Pulp Fiction", the narrative techniques of various short films are not uncommon, and there are even flashbacks such as "Shards of Memory", but no matter what, there must be a connection between them, such as Alessandro’s many films, They all have the same topic as the core, and the interplay between the characters as the apparent connection, and the "narrative" of the life trilogy is the spread of the Qingming River on the river pattern, and it can't be more appropriate for Ukiyo-e.

The above-mentioned elements, coupled with the film's white, gray, and green tones, are very consistent with the nature of the film itself, and it allows the film to present a true perspective of God, as if the audience became attached. The ghost in the object becomes the window of the room, the fire hydrant, or a stone, observing the world without emotion, using the name of the last part of the trilogy to describe it, "Holding a bird in the cold".

Let's talk about the theme of the film. As mentioned earlier, there are slight differences in the trilogy. My own guess is that it is because of the director’s own age and different perspectives. The more he sees the ups and downs of the world, the more he sees through. This may also be the reason why I like the first film the most, even though the first film’s Tragedy means much more, but this presentation of tragedy just shows that the director has feelings about these phenomena in the world. If he wants to express, he must point out the chaos. After that, he has become more and more indifferent. This indifference is therefore Presented in a comedy way, it seems to be a kind of joking to the mortals in the world.

To be honest, I can't say that I understand this film. I guess there are very few people who dare to say so. "Singing from the Second Floor" presents us a Ukiyo-e of the end in the millennium. Should the economy collapse, should I switch to faith? As a result, faith was also missing. Jesus seemed to be missing a corner, swaying on the cross like a monkey, and no one felt wrong. People degenerate to sacrifice, but they don't even know whom to sacrifice to. At the entrance of Noah's Ark Room, there are a lot of wealthy people, laboriously moving huge bags that are taller than adults. Flogging the people ahead and blocking the road for four days is the background scene. The officer in the foreground said that life is like travel, our heritage and history are compasses, "Driver, how much have we advanced?" "Less than a foot ".

There is only one poet who is locked up in a mental hospital. He seems to be different. The singing from the second floor may refer to him.

Since the theme of this film is too grand, I can only point out the tip of the iceberg. What's interesting is that I thought that the filming technique of this film could be borrowed, maybe I could shoot it too. After all, the camera positions are fixed and the actors are amateurs, but I quickly gave up this idea after watching it. Maybe Thirty years later, I have a little chance of impersonating me, but now, being able to talk about one of his countless connotations is enough to make me clap my hands and applaud.
