Reality and reality have no boundaries, beating right

The director is really clever!

I can't laugh or cry, but my attention has been held tightly by the plot.

There are only a few characters, but there is such a wonderful, ups and downs plot, there are always many possible branches after each event, but the director has always used his humor and seriousness to lead us to choose the most difficult mountain path to be discovered.

Seeing the rude handling of the case by the French police and the media, I thought the director wanted to mock the French police for being "stupid," "no matter what," "logical reasoning is not as good as our high school students." In the end, with the help of good luck, they easily got all the evidence, turned against the wind, and became the justices of justice.

The wife is so pitiful, her mood changes: passion-disappointment-doubt-sadness-powerless to relax (sleeping)-doubts-anger-tension-happiness-mixed flavors, see through.

Each character is independent and self-willed, but all events are messy, but all behaviors are so reasonable and reasonable!

Jeanne Moreau starred in Louis Mahler's first feature film "Elevator to the Gallows" at the age of 30

And this movie can be regarded as the director’s debut, so I know how to arrange the suspense and rhythm so properly, I really like it~~~

Worthy of being an important figure who set off a new wave of art!

Florence falling into an extramarital affair (played by Jeanne Moreau)

Julian Taverni who knows a lot (Maurice Ronnett)

Going all the way, count the romantic figures, but also look at the present.

A fusion of French New Wave and "Post-Caligari". Snowballing from a single point to a narrative with multiple threads. The blues soundtrack expresses the inner confusion of the characters. This existential style with dark humor directly influenced American directors such as the Coen brothers and Martin Scorsese in the future. Although there is suspicion of hasty anticlimactic, but since it is the director's first feature film, it is also excusable.

The relationship between people is a state of shared fate in "The Elevator to the Gallows". Although no one knows anyone, everyone can find a bit of commonality in evidence from the ardent desires between the sexes. Unfortunately, the intimate and tense relationship between the sexes suddenly lost connection and dialogue in an immoral cheating/theft. People are thrown into their own plights by their uncontrolled destiny: men are sent to prison by their own crazy reason and become criminals waiting for trial. The woman is locked in "Night" by her own imagination, like a homeless wandering soul. Louis Mahler’s suspenseful work is full of class meaning, and the most intuitive image is the elevator. The heroes and heroines never meet from beginning to end. The young couple is not only their stand-in in this story, but also the protagonist in the bottom story. Two parallel stories finally converge in a darkroom. All accidents have their inevitability. Only love is so positive, obvious, and full of mystery, just like those indisputable photos from scratch. The love between the sexes, waiting, kissing, is also so touching.
