New York King

Ferrara made a vampire movie wrapped in gangster skins, and Walken played a cold and melancholy vampire king. The atmosphere is very special as a whole, with beautiful colors, light and shadows. Cool lighting with hip-hop music has a more erosive beauty. In fact, the movie seems to deliberately dilute the sense of reality. For example, the gang members are almost all black but the boss is white (the movie also implicitly implies the similarity between this character and Dracula). At the same time, Walken's handling of the role of Frank White is different from his handling of other gangster type roles. Instead of emphasizing how fierce, brutal and powerful this character is, he pays more attention to portraying the character's exhaustion and melancholy. Many people think this character is a Robin Hood character, but like the name of the movie, Frank White is more like a tyrant. Even though his money and rights are derived from the suffering of the city, he feels distressed for this fallen city. In order to change and end this suffering, he will not hesitate to resort to extreme violence. However, this violent suppression method is not accepted by the city and its people. When he looked at his city, his expression was almost compassionate. At the end of the film, ignorant crowds surrounded him. He sat alone on his throne, like a king betrayed by his own people.
