I almost missed this animated feature film, because Warner, title and style all made me think that this is another Hollywood routine cartoon composed of jokes, singing and dancing, warmth and inspiration, probably like the previous year’s " Magic " Elf ", I was very happy when I watched it, and then it didn't take long for me to forget it. Until I saw "Fantasy Snow Monster" was shortlisted for the best feature film Oscars, I walked into the cinema with the spirit of an animated feature film lover who would rather kill his mistakes. In fact, the beginning of the movie really disappointed me. I yawned for a while, but as the story progressed, the movie gradually attracted me.
At the beginning of the movie, it shows the carefree lives of the snow monsters on the cloud under the management of the village chief and Shi Dian. The young snow monster Migo is determined to inherit his father's career and become a gong-smasher who wakes up the village every day. During a gong hitting training, he accidentally ran into a "little foot monster" that Shi Dian said did not exist-humans. The village chief concluded that he had expelled him from the village by spreading rumors. With the encouragement and help of his friends, he came to the bottom of the cloud and brought a little foot monster to the cloud, proving that he did not lie, and he won the welcome and respect of the villagers. Up to this point, all I have seen are the usual themes of Hollywood animated feature films: the troubles of growing up and the realization of self-worth.
Just when I regarded this movie as a mediocre work, a sudden and wonderful rap changed my view. Three bets, four bets, and how many bets are not the point. The point is that the village chief’s low voice makes the movie go from cheerful to dark, from bright to dark, taking the movie from a family carnival to a deeper level. If doubting the classics and challenging authority are common inspirational ignition points, then the truth under the clouds triggers thinking: What is the value of the existence of classics and authority? Should lies with legitimate motives be exposed?
One of the main points of "A Brief History of Mankind" is that human society relies on a set of indispensable systems. Social order, law and morality are tools created by a few to rule the majority. People believe, follow, and worship these rules, just like snow. The strangers believe in the truth and authority of Shi Lu. The role of Shoushi village chief has a certain degree of complexity. On the one hand, he accused the deer of guarding lies and fooling the masses. On the other hand, he was the guardian of the masses. In the end, he became a supporter of breaking the old system. This is just like the Mingjun that the people expect, always making the right decision at the critical moment. The metaphor of "Snow Monster Adventure" criticizes classics and authority while also affirming its positive effect.
Seeing this, "Snow Monster Adventure" is no longer a haha animation for young children, and Miguo's mentality gradually resonated with adult audiences. To be a confused and happy fool or to be a sober but painful wise man is a difficult choice. It is about the truth that you care more about virtual satisfaction or embarrassment, and whether you are willing to be a pug of the system comfortably. Still work hard to be a free dream chaser.
But after all, cartoons still have to consider the feelings of children's audiences, so that in the eyes of adults like me, the ending of the friendly meeting between Bigfoot and Littlefoot is too ideal. I am pessimistic about human nature. I don’t believe that humans will be so friendly and polite when facing strangers that are stronger than themselves. Whether humans are open and tolerant to foreign races or defensively eliminated, this issue has been fully discussed in the X-Men. I I believe that out of suspicion and fear, human beings will show barbaric primitive appearance. "Snow Monster Adventure" begins to be dull, with a wonderful middle, and a bright ending. The part for adults is qualified, but the part of the haha animation is lackluster, which can only be regarded as a half good show.
