Master Stephen King’s Nazi Pursuit (original name: Nazi Master) is my favorite of the four different seasons. The description of many details, the changes in the character's heart, and the unexpected but reasonable ending made it in my heart better than Shawshank's salvation.
But as a remake, there is still 10,000 Shawshank between the Nazi chase and Shawshank. I personally feel that there are two types of good remakes: one is that the original is lackluster, and the adaptation is wonderfully crafted, adding the filmmakers’ imagination and understanding of the story. The other is that the original work is breathtaking, and the film conforms to and follows the original work to the greatest extent. The movie Shawshank belongs to the latter.
However, after reading the Nazi chase, I can't help but feel sorry for the original work. Many people in the film critics reported that they had only watched the movie and never seen the original, and even more thought the storyline was average. Regarding the various shortcomings of the film, you can refer to other film reviews, and the predecessors' descriptions are complete. I will mainly talk about my brief talk about the original work.
The first thing to point out is that at the end of the original book, the boy shot and killed the teacher, and then he was guilty and ran to the top of the mountain to slaughter the innocent people in the past. This ending shocked me greatly. The protagonist boy has changed from an excellent grades boy with an inner heart to a social malignant tumor, a ferocious demon, what is the reason?
This is exactly what I think the original text wants to convey to readers.
In simple terms: In fact, Nazi thought is a kind of thought that caters to human psychology. Existence is reasonable. The Nazis have captured the hearts of countless people and received the support of countless people. However, we all know that no one likes what they disagree with. This in turn proves that the Nazis are actually hidden in everyone's heart. The dark side. The transformation of juvenile constitution stems from the awakening of Nazi culture to his inner sins.
Deeply speaking, I think of Xunzi's words that people are inherently evil at the beginning: humans are evil by nature, and those who are good are hypocritical. There is also the Christian theory of original sin and the argument of Augustine, the godfather philosopher. I also discussed it with a friend. He told me about Hobbes's theory of human nature, which made me startled.
We might as well assume that you have an annoying neighbor that makes you miserable; at the same time, your friends are telling you about various assassination techniques every day that can make people retreat without being guilty. If things go on like this, if it happens to happen to a certain flash point, can you be sure and sure that you will not move the idea of killing your neighbor?
Back to the movie itself. A two-hour movie is enough to tell the story in my heart. Deleted the story of the boy trapping the tramp and the ending. It seems that the ending is missing, as if "giving people room for imagination", as if "no ending is the best ending", but in fact, the lack of plot leads to the connection. The most fundamental truth of the story has not been told, and there are too many useless pens that make me think that the director may not have read the original.
So why do you want to remake it?
