Pseudo-record + exorcism may be my favorite combination. I would like to single out one of them. Of course, it’s difficult for this type of film to produce new flowers. The old version of "The Exorcist" is considered to be My enlightenment work, maybe since then I have really fallen in love with this kind of exorcism horror film, and there is no need to say more about the types of pseudo-records, "Death Video", "Ghost Record", "Graveyard Encounter" ", "Clover's Archives", etc., are all classics in my mind. How exciting is the combination of the two.
Almost all exorcism movies have been watched over the years, some of them are surprising ("The Call of the Soul", "The Last Exorcism", etc.), but also unsatisfactory. This is a 12-year-old movie. I just watched it today and I didn't follow it. At that time, it seemed that the trailer and the IMDB score were not very good, so I have been dragging it until now. I really liked it and it was a pleasant surprise.
There is not much novelty in the plot, and it is impossible to escape the long-winded paving of false records, as well as almost the same exorcism scenes and similar ghost and animal actions. Although the film adds the concept of multiple demon possession, it is not new, so It seems to change the soup without changing the material, but it is better than the truth, especially the basement exorcism section, it is very real, so true that you will doubt whether this kind of scene really exists in real life, of course, you do not deny this fact. . The dim lights, dilapidated walls, humid environment and devil's foul language give people an uncomfortable sense of reality. In this period, adrenal hormones have soared, and the refreshing feeling seems to have been gone for a long time. The feeling is very subtle, and I can't say that I like it.
In fact, what surprised me the most about this film was that it was the treatment of the ending that I showed my liking for this film. It is not an exaggeration to say that this is the first time I have seen such a wonderful ending after watching so many movies. What is puzzling is that many people do not like it very much, and think that it is "anticlimax", which is also the reason for the relatively low score. Is it true that the sudden ending will make people very uncomfortable, and the heart is full of black question marks? ? ? Is this over? ? ? Or it can be understood that many audiences are still looking forward to the following plot, and still have doubts about the previous content. This also shows that the audience is in the play, but they don’t know whether the ending is the director’s intention or the right time and place. At least In my case it is successful.
In the story, there is no stipulation that there must be an ending. Life changes and things are impermanent. Not everything needs to be explained clearly. In life, there will always be some unexpected things that make people caught off guard. Perhaps most movies will be treated theatrically to give the audience a complete storyline. Just because this is a pseudo-recorded exorcism movie, we are not standing by the audience. Perspective is not God’s perspective. The only way to get a glimpse of the entire story is through the camera lens. This ending is the greatest respect for reality.
