The ruthless and ruthless homeless Johnny (David Thewlis) came to London to find his ex-girlfriend Louise Clancy (Lesley Sharp), from an industrial city with serious unemployment Manchester came to London, a metropolis intertwined with light and darkness. Johnny met Louise's roommate Sophie (Katrin Cartlidge), and the two had sex in the apartment that day. Upon waking up, Sophie, who had fallen in love with Johnny, got Johnny's cynical refusal. The cynical Johnny not only hates women, but also hates himself and everything he is in. He indifferently made love to a strange woman, and desperately confronted the world with violence.
The film won the Best Director Award in the main competition unit of the 46th Cannes Film Festival in 1993. The actor David Huris won the Best Actor Award for this film. The film was also nominated for the 46th Cannes Film Festival Main Competition Unit-Palme d'Or.
