When I finished watching The Crucible, my whole mood fell to the bottom-I had never felt so depressed. Why does a movie make me so incomprehensible and sad?
At the end, the person about to be hanged stood by the rope loop, reciting the sentences in the Bible without changing his face, and every word of it turned into a last word. The faces of the people in the audience were distorted by pain and tears. It's just silent, so quiet that there is only the sound of reciting the Bible in the terrible town at this moment. However, the Lord has not come, and will never come. No one saves the innocent, no one pushes the liar into hell.
How did it go from a group of young girls dancing in the forest step by step to the last more than 20 people being hanged?
All the goodness and beauty in human nature have been trampled into powder by religious extremism. In order to save life, I would not hesitate to tell a lie that everyone knows is a lie-where is the witch able to control the human mind? From a person’s instinctive reaction to save his life to a mass lie, a bigger lie is told in order to round out a lie. The accumulation of lies and lies, the interweaving of mistakes and mistakes, makes people feel chills. In the process, the girls realized that their status is no longer a lowly servant, but that every sentence is important, and every sentence can become evidence of a case in court. The flames of vengeance were burning in the closed town, and no one came to extinguish it. The judge was even carrying a petrol can, lest the fire was not violently burned and the "cleaning" was not thorough enough. Is the blood red flame, or the rust-flavored liquid pouring out of the innocent broken body?
Love should be pure and innocent at first, until later it became a behavior dominated by strong jealousy, possessiveness, and revenge. Then I added the word "should" before "innocent". People who have been looked down upon suddenly have the right to speak, like a villain who suddenly gains power. It is impossible at this moment to want a society where black is black and white is white. In Abigail, I saw a girl with an extremely beautiful body being devoured by extreme lust step by step, and her soul was twisted by growing jealousy. In order to get the one you love, I don’t hesitate to create lies and illusions, and do the most artificial and exaggerated performances in court, even if you stabbed yourself with a sharp weapon-as long as one day, you can be with the person you like, and be unprovoked by a man. Dancing happily in front of the grave of the dead wife. When changing from liking to lust, love is no longer what it used to be. It just wants to possess, to possess for the sake of possessing. Want to enjoy the joy of victory, so as to be the capital to show off.
But is it all the girl’s fault? Even if I hate such a person whose hands are covered with invisible blood, I will not blame her for the crime. If there was no extreme abstinence, why would our seemingly normal dancing today become "witchcraft by witches"? Without the instigation of religious leaders, how could she start to have such terrible thoughts and then justly accuse her An innocent person? Without the help of a judge, how can a huge court adopt the testimony of a few girls and use it as a reason for hanging? If there is no extreme religious belief, why should a "witch" who is not a witch refuse to recognize The right to be taken from life for unwarranted crimes? The desire for revenge has become hysterical on the land, and no one can escape. You must accept the sin I made up for you. Too many people should be blamed and should be immediately dragged into purgatory without reincarnation. But now it was the innocent people who died in order to preserve their reputation.
After tearing up the signed confession, John Proctor said hoarse:
Because it is my name
Because I cannot have another in my life
Because I am not worth the dust on the feet of them that hang
How may I live without my name?
I've given you my soul
Leave me my name
The moment I heard this passage, my body was shaking. I don't know anyone can cherish his reputation to such a degree. An old Chinese saying says "a man can bend and stretch", but at this moment, I think this man who does not understand "bending" is a real man. As long as the flames have not burned to their doorstep, who will stand up? It is far better to follow the trend or remain silent than to speak up. And this man, in order to expose Abigail’s true face, set aside the dignity of a man and admitted that he had an affair with him, and when he discovered that everything was irreversible, he yelled so loudly and desperately: "I said, God has Dead! God, already dead!" Whoever chooses to be silent, will the body tremble unconsciously at this moment? I don't know if the death of this man will awaken the numb villagers, but I know this man has saved his reputation. No one, no one has any qualifications, to blame this person.
If someone asks you, are you willing to choose to confess unnecessarily charges for surviving your life, or would you rather die than to insult your personality? I believe most people's answer will be the latter. But just after watching this movie, if someone asks me, I will definitely hesitate. The strong tremor caused by those words, I don't think I can recover for a while. Moreover, speaking is always easy, but if you are really in that kind of environment at the moment, you have to make this difficult decision? Will you hesitate? Will you remember your original choice? I am puzzled.
What this movie portrays is only the tip of the iceberg of this dark history. After reading Vibai, I realized that what is more staggering than literary film and television works is life itself.
God may have seen all this happening in this world.
God may feel that these hysterical and crazy crowds have no cure, and then abandon us and leave.
Or, God is really dead.
