In 2000, Stephen Glass passed the New York State Bar Examination, but was unable to pass the ethics test because of this news taint, and New York State refused to issue him a lawyer's license.

In 2003, Stephen Glass worked as a reporter for a short period of time, but the release of this film completely destroyed his dream of being a reporter. Then he faded out of people's vision.

In 2009, Stephen Glass applied to the California Bar Examination Board for a lawyer's license, but also failed to pass the ethics test because of this news taint. Then he began a two-year struggle.

In July 2011, the California Attorneys Review Board determined that Stephen Glass had reformed and submitted an application to the High Court for a ruling. On November 16, 2011, the High Court accepted the application. This is the first time the court has accepted an application in ethics cases in 11 years. The court is currently proceeding.
