Provoking in every respect and manner. Anonymous gives its own exploration of the true identity of Williams Shakespeare by casting Shakespeare himself within a Shakespearean tragedy. Although the authenticity should definitely be taken with a pint of salt, it is a heart-wrenching story that is not unlike the work by the great writer himself. As our times has passed so has the taste of audience, but this film pays true homage to the great writer, written by him or not. The story neatly ties all the Shakespeare we read and loved in high school to political events at the time, and done so successfully. However, the pacing of the movie was questionable towards the end, which several times felt like it was about to end, but again it would reverse to explain another theme. Nevertheless , a vastly underrated movie.
