"Tsubaki Sanjuro" can undoubtedly be regarded as a companion chapter of "Intentional Stick", even the poster is exactly the same. In the recent Kurosawa movies, this series is my favorite. Compared with "Rashomon" and "Seven Samurai", although they are also very exciting and amazing, they are not as good as "Intentional Stick" in my heart. In fact, there are not many martial arts scenes in these two films that focus on psychological tactics, but "Intentional Stick" focuses on the second half, and "Tsubaki Saniro" is in the first half. Regarding the setting of the strategy, what impressed me most was the section of Camellia in "Tsubaki Sanjuro", which is really interesting and very clever.

This must be my favorite character in all Kurosawa movies, and it is also my favorite in the role played by Toshiro Mifune. In the next few movies, there was no such idea, especially the role of Tsubaki Jiroro, which made people think that he should be like Mifune. After watching "Intentional Stick", I feel that Sanchuan has a bit of the feeling of a knight in Chinese martial arts movies. He wanders between the earth and wanders in the rivers and lakes. Especially at the end of the two movies, Tsubaki Saniro has settled the matter, and the back of his departure coincides with the description in many martial arts novels. But this is not what attracts me. His real charm is as the hotel owner said, "He doesn't have a bad heart, just likes to pretend." In current terms, he is awkward and arrogant. Look at the small movements he is used to, wiping his nose and shrugging his shoulders, this is shy. The family he rescued in "Intentional Stick" wrote him a letter of thanks after he was saved. The hotel owner let him see. He said there was nothing good to see. If it weren’t for Nakadai’s next appearance, I felt that the next shot was him taking advantage of the boss. Carelessly, he opened the letter secretly, and then scolded a few stupid words proudly, and then drank with a smile at the corner of his mouth. In these two movies, we saw the humorous Kurosawa and the poisonous tongue Tsubakiro. In "Tsubaki Sanjuro", "I'm not afraid of opponents like wolves, but teammates like pigs". He often had this idea about the 9 young and reckless samurai, but although his mouth is poisonous, he always protects his actions. Against them. In addition to his venomous tongue, he is also very good at flattering. In "Intentional Stick", he instigates discord and flatters the role played by Daisuke Kato and turns him around. The female characters in these two films are quite brilliant. The wife of Qing Guards in "Intentional Stick" and the rescued wife in "Tsubaki Sanjuro". The two have their own insightful remarks. In "Intentional Stick", the wife of Qing Guards persuaded her son to kill Tsubakiro, saying, "If you want to get rich, you must commit adultery and looting." The role of the lady in "Tsubaki Sanjuro" is quite wise, although occasionally Tsubakiro is crazy. I especially liked the part where they discussed how to act. The wife and daughter discussed whether to use white camellias or red camellias. Tsubakihiro patiently traced the katakana on the door panel with his fingertips over and over again. If it's a cat, this scene must be the cat scratching the wall with its paws. Later, the beauty of the big flowers of camellia falling down the water can be felt through the black and white images. In "Tsubaki Sanjuro", the wife said something like "A sharp sword must be sheathed." This sentence made Tsubakiro think for a long time. It also made me instantaneously travel to the Remembrance of Rurouni Kenshin. Both are invincible swordsmanship, but the sharp-edged person will always cut himself one day accidentally. At the end of the film, Tsubaki Saniro leaves again, and his next stop may continue to happen like "Intentional Stick" and The story of the "Tsubaki Sanjuro" version, but it must be different, he may meet some people, and then settle down here, just like Kenshin.
