The story takes place in France and England in the 1950s-60s. The magician who was once famous and lived an elegant life was suddenly squeezed into a corner by young pop culture and the sadness of the times. He wandered around Europe to ask for life and encountered an ignorant girl. , And his father did his best to take care of the girl's clumsy innocence and dreams. Later the child fell in love with a boy of the same age. The magician was a little frustrated and left sadly, leaving the girl with the words "There is no magician in life", nor was he helping the children weave dreams. In that era, there were nobles, gentry, compassion and spiritual love.
There are also three acrobats who can make a rooster crowing sound and jump up and down, a sad and lonely clown, and a comic artist who manipulates puppets. But their era, the era of handicrafts, has quietly ended. They can only struggle silently and are quickly eliminated.
This film is full of paranoid nostalgia, and the poor dialogue does not affect its poetry in the slightest. Although the rhythm is slow and full of sadness, the delicate two-dimensionality, combined with the three-dimensional style of painting, and the sloppy jazz piano will still shake the soft things in people's hearts. "If life is just like seeing it at first time, what's the matter with autumn wind and sad painting fan", a pure noble sentiment, is the moving part of this film.
