Greenberg and Reign Over Me are similar.
1. The protagonist has been injured. Roger had been in a mental hospital, thinking about it all day long. Charlie lost a loved one because of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Both are fragile and sensitive.
2. Because of friendship, the two people gradually walked out of the shadows.
3. With an open ending, the film did not tell us how to develop the relationship between the protagonist and the actress. It just gave us hope for the future. Things are always moving in a good direction.
After watching City Island, I found that even though Westerners are open and enthusiastic, there are actually many secrets hidden in their hearts, unspeakable secrets. Like Roger, he confessed to his friends his regrets about the past and dissatisfaction with reality only after using the power of marijuana.
