At first, I turned my head to face the out-of-control of the world

Violent aesthetics. This term has been used so extensively that even Hong Kong films that have been criticized as "must die" by Er Dongsheng have to be mixed up. While watching the cannibalistic scenes in "Young Hannibal" and sucking yogurt, seeing the protagonist blow his head at the end of "Fight Club", it only gave rise to a trace of untold pleasure. Phew, there are too many hot scenes, the magistrate has already yawned again and again.

But this film is the most thrilling one I have seen recently.

It cannot be said that he is not smart, at least he knows his position. He speaks less and handles things as neatly and cleanly as his skills. His eyes looked like a boy who didn't know the world and was just used to the fierceness. The wounds and pain could not touch him. It was not because of how cruel it was, but because of what he had been accustomed to.

For single lines that are either black or white, the world has never been only one.

It was the woman's white neck and the thin hair at the base of her ears, and the pear-shaped smile between the woman's playing the violin. Maybe it was her that made him learn to be sensible. He didn't want to kill her and her lover's hand, and chose the acceptable way: let them live, and since then he has gone on the road of no return.

It's just as simple as loyalty and infidelity. He betrayed the boss and was hunted down by countless people. He was angry at the result and couldn't understand, but the moment they let them go, he had already ruled that she was innocent. So his anger was only toward the gang boss who was chasing and killing his powerful subordinates. In this period of revenge, no heroine appeared at all. His downfall and revenge seemed to be irrelevant to her.

Before he died, he dialed her phone dyingly to give him a taste of the sweetness of the woman. Then it stopped abruptly.

Li Bingxian's performance was very good, and the camera liked to capture his eyes. It was the helpless and regretless anger of a man with only his fists left. Korean movies have always had beautiful pictures, and even the fighting scenes are cruel and real. It is said that the scene of being buried alive was also the hardest one he filmed, and it gave me the feeling that it was super shocking. The whole film is full of black absurdity.

The dialogue at the end explains why such a gangster film is called "Sweet Life". The

master asked his disciple: "You seem to have had a bad dream."

The disciple replied: "No, I had a sweet dream." The

master asked: "Then why are you crying?" The

disciple replied, "Because I know this dream cannot be realized."

The story itself is actually a bit old-fashioned, and you can see the shadow of many Hong Kong films in the 1980s. The echoes before the two narrative threads are quite meaningful. Found a lot of lens processing very interesting. The music is great, please download the original sound.

A Bittersweet Life quotes

  • Mr. Kang: Let's not make a fuss.

Sun-woo: This is my last place. I have nowhere else to go.

Mr. Kang: Do you really want to take this too far?

Sun-woo: [Ignores his question, rebukes] Why would you do this to me, Mr. Kang?

Mr. Kang: Because you did not follow my orders.

Sun-woo: No, none of that stuff. Tell me the real reason why. Were you really trying to kill me? Do you know how long I have worked for you? Like a dog, I have served you for 7 years! Why? Tell me anything. Anything. Tell me!

    [shoots Mr. Kang]

  • Mr. Kang: What has gotten into you? Don't do this, Sun-woo.

Sun-woo: [shoots Mr. Kang through the heart] "We can't turn back time can we?"
