just that this future is too short, this future is too fragile, and this future has no future.
The protagonist of the story, in my opinion, is a simple, innocent, neurotic, but kind-hearted boy A. Because of the mistakes he made in the past, he kept his name incognito, just to have a good life. So boy A becomes boy JACK. But the nightmare of the past always bothers.
I remember that at the beginning of the story, when Boy A was overjoyed at the first gift he received after being released from prison, an indescribable emotion hit his chest. That pair of sneakers as a gift contains too much meaning. This is a gift, a promise, a wish.
A's childhood is always lonely. She was ridiculed by classmates and teachers in class, and beaten by senior classmates after school. Back home, only the father's casual voice and no expressions were seen. I wanted to confide my sadness with my mother, but only in exchange for [Leave me alone.], without even looking up. Days are so hard and people are so alienated, A gradually feels that his heart is about to die.
Phillip's appearance is like a straw. Someone is willing to accompany you around, talk to you, and beat each other when you are being bullied. So no matter how wrong the other party's actions are, A will follow blindly. It’s just that if you make some mistakes, you never have a chance to look back.
The happiness he wants is so simple. A clean bed, a stable job, and one or two friends who can stab at it. He never even fantasized about love. A beanie said [He didn’t really fall in love with Michelle, but in love. ] This feeling is too dreamy. In his blank life, this is the first time he has this feeling. Like opium, it is sinking.
The whole picture of the film is precipitated with a sense of darkness. Even the smiling images are full of melancholy, blurring in the entire space, lingering.
The most desperate thing is that you live in this world and no one cares about you. JACK is happy because of a simple wallet, a photo, a sentence and a look from a friend, and a care and a little shelter from the old man. All this is proof that he is no longer that boy A. He is no longer the air, or the object of someone's ridicule, or the burden of his parents. Some people need him, some people love him.
So when these unparalleled ordinary lives that were hard to come by were once again broken by his past, he could no longer see the way to the future. Despair is like blood, invading the body and drowning the heart. So he fled the room through the skylight in a panic, avoiding reporters' questions. He wanted to escape, to a place where no one would ask him again, to a place where no one would blame him, to a place where there was no indifference.
The ending is too cruel.
No one wants to give him a chance. The close friends who say [I'm here, mate.] and the lovers who say [I love you.] all believe in his past and other people's broken words. They don't look at his kindness, don't believe in his bravery, they only remember the girl he killed, but ignore the life he saved. He is always an abandoned person, from birth to death.
The river water is like a mother body. He finally shed tears. Goodbye.
There is no place for him in this warm and cold world.
