Seeking happiness

When I was in the UK in the summer, I already wanted to watch Mike Leigh's new work "Happy-Go-Lucky". Unfortunately, there are not many theaters showing, so I can only hope to quench my thirst by looking at the posters. Unexpectedly, there will be niche screenings in Hong Kong a few months later.

The heroine of the movie, Puppy, is 30 years old. She is an elementary school teacher who lives in a serious manner. She is a typical optimistic silly elder sister. Soon after the movie started, Puppy stepped into a strange bookstore. Even though the clerk didn't respond from the beginning to the end, Puppy teased him and made him laugh. At first, she felt that she was more perverted and inferior than naturally cheerful. The story goes on, plain but interesting.

No matter how optimistic Puppy is, God will not take special care of her, and the world will not revolve around her. The plot arranges some setbacks that you, me, and I may also encounter in life: bicycle stolen, work troubles, driver's grumpy, backache... But Puppy is able to face it easily, just like she is. When the bookstore saw a book called "The Road to Truth", she said humorously: "I don't have to go on this road yet." What she pursues is the lightness of life.

The editor also compared Puppy with the secular definition of happiness. Puppy's younger sister is younger than her, married, pregnant, and has savings. She doubts Puppy's life nervously, and her emotions are almost out of control. It turns out that the external fulfillment is not as good as the inner happiness.

However, Puppy vowed that her optimism would cause the misfortune of another person. Through the story of the driver, I understand that life is always fortunate and unfortunate. Happiness is not all of a person, but it is an important element that pushes us to become healthy.

Digression: This year’s Oscars should be very exciting, because it is still difficult to point out which movie is the most popular after nearly 20 film critics’ associations have been awarded. Masterpieces all shake their feet). The best actress in the eyes of many film critics, playing Puppy’s Sally Hawkins, <>Meryl Streep and <> Anne Hathaway was seen high, but Sally Hawkins in the SAG list announced a few days ago was sent out, and there is no hope for the Olympics. For the American awards ceremony, I don’t want the two consecutive Best Actresses to be won by European actors, right?

    Poppy: Alright, you what?

Tramp: [moves towards Poppy urgently, whispering] Is he gone?

    Poppy: Ease up! What?

Tramp: [whispering urgently] Is he gone? Is he gone?

Poppy: Oh, the rubber knocker man! Why didn't you say?

Poppy: Yah yah, yah. He's gone, he's gone.

  • Zoe: So where did you go tonight?

Poppy: Eternal question. Where have we been? Where are we going? What's the meaning of life? I went to the moon, and then back again.

    Zoe: Wow, you walk quickly.

    Poppy: I've got good legs.

Zoe: Yeah, you've got great legs. Not that you're my type.
