I thought it would continue. Watt and Jonathan are actually the same person, but the protagonist is schizophrenic. (Long-term work pressure, being stared at, lonely, bereavement...) In the end, the protagonist kills himself.
It's a pity that the director is not as expected, but in all fairness, the final solution is indeed a little bland and boring.
