Lifestyle's illusion-Deception

This is a typical "Film Noir" that I like. The tonality is so dark that it feels like the Solaris movie back then, and even the music is very similar. The photographer is Dante Spinotti, and both LA Confidential and Insider are his works.

The protagonist is an auditor who is lured by lust into a well-designed scam. In fact, the real temptation is a phantom of the so-called lifestyle. Many urbanites who are suppressed by boring work fantasize about excitement and affair, imagining a better and more comfortable "lifestyle", so that they can play another self in front of strangers. . So when he met true love in a sex game, he suddenly felt that the pleasure of acting had disappeared. Unfortunately, his "true love" is only part of the whole big scam.

Many night scenes of New York in the film are blurred. Most of the scenes are in various hotel rooms, which are decorated with low-key pretense, as if emphasizing unreality. This unreality is maximized in the small hotel room in Chinatown where the hero and heroine tryst. The last scene was staged in Madrid again, and the audience followed the protagonist and always shuttled in time and space. This may be why it is translated as "traveler".

Why do you insist on holding on to the illogical and unrealistic nature of domestic films, while ignoring the illogical and absolutely unrealistic Hollywood films time and time again.
