Terrible story, interesting illustration

Mr. Miyazaki's son, with his courage and practical actions, tried hard to tell everyone a very bad story.

How bad is this story? For those who are curious, I highly recommend that you be patient and watch it from head to toe. Can't hold on? It doesn't matter, Miyazaki can't hold on either, ha ha.

I've heard of this animation a long time ago. When it was first released, there were sayings such as "Hayao Miyazaki is gradually retiring" and "Goro Miyazaki is going to inherit his father's business." Only after reading the commentary of Douyou Gua Lala, I realized that the original author, like the masses of the people, was deceived.

I haven't had the opportunity to watch it, and I haven't paid attention to whether this film is good or not. In my impression, for the productions of Hayao Miyazaki and Ghibli, there is only a question of how good they look, not whether they are good or not.

Until this weekend, I occasionally watched a documentary on the production process of Hayao Miyazaki’s latest work "Goldfish Princess on the Cliff" on a video website. I saw some information about "The Battle of the Earth and Sea" in it, and I couldn't help but comment on it. Interest.

In a section of this documentary, it is mentioned that Hayao Miyazaki will one day go to the production unit (probably Ghibli, which has not been studied), and wants to ask someone to discuss some issues. After arriving there, I ran into his son, Mr. Goro Miyazaki, who was discussing issues with the production staff. Surprisingly, not only did he not participate in the discussion in the past, but he immediately hid away. On the way out of the production unit, the accompanying documentary photographer asked him why he was hiding from his son. He said, I don't want to see him, he upsets me.

Later, the production of "War of the Earth and Sea" was completed, and of course Hayao Miyazaki was invited to the screening. When he arrived at the screening site, he did not say hello to his son. At the beginning of the screening, Hayao Miyazaki and a colleague who had been with him for many years watched "The Battle of the Earth and the Sea" with no expression on their faces. The trial screening only lasted for an hour, and the documentary footage suddenly changed. He walked out of the screening room alone and walked to the rest hall outside. In the documentary footage, his voice was very flat: this hour is too long, it feels like several hours have passed. Then he sat in a chair and smoked silently.

At the end of the screening, an acquaintance joked with Miyazaki: It turns out that Goro Miyazaki is going to tell a philosophical story, hahaha... Miyazaki ignored him and left without looking back.

On the other hand, this terrible story can clearly show us what a good director means to a film. The same production team, the same production technology, and even the characters and scenes in the animation are reminiscent of Hayao Miyazaki's work, but all these characters, scene descriptions, beautiful music and other elements are added together, but in the end they only It is incomparable to Hayao Miyazaki's work to be able to present such a fragmented, unclear, and painless hodgepodge.

This is an interesting negative textbook. In this sense, I highly recommend someone who is patient, patient with your temperament, and watch it from beginning to end.

Tales from Earthsea quotes

  • Haitaka: Listen to me, Aaren: everything you see under the sun and stars owes its very existence to the balance: the wind and seas, the powers of earth and light, all these do is well and rightly done within the equilibrium. But now, men hold the power to control the world. Men must learn to do what leaf and whale and wind do naturally. It is for us to keep the balance. Everything that exists has its true name. The power of magic is nothing more than the power to command based on the knowledge of a thing's true name. But use that power irresponsibly, and the balance of the world is easily damaged. Spells should be made only when absolutely needed.

  • Tenar: Leave her alone! She's done nothing to you!
