"The Evaporating Morgans" tells the story of a typical nitpicking "New Yorker" couple who fell in love but did not want to stay together for various reasons. They were included in the witness protection plan after witnessing a homicide and sent to a remote place. The story of Ray, a small town in Wyoming, in central America.
This movie perfectly shows how arrogant and ignorant this pair of people in the city are, and how simple and kind the people in the town are. What caught my eye the most in the movie were the shortcomings that people in these three cities often have:
1) Too self:
a) The heroine Meryl wanted to have a baby but did not communicate well with the hero Paul when she suffered infertility. She only thought about her own needs and didn't care about her husband's thoughts at all. When encountering difficulties, the couple should work together to find a way, and should not impose their own ideas on each other. When encountering different opinions, they will most use the worst solution-blame each other to deal with it.
b) Both the Morgans are too pursuing their own career development and will not take the initiative to give each other time to get along. In the movie, in order to find a time to eat together, the secretaries of both parties had to coordinate. Both of them seem to be reluctant to sacrifice a little career and leave more time for the family.
c) I don’t care at all about my being in the witness protection plan, I don’t care about myself, and the safety of the small town couple who protects myself, in order to keep myself idle and continue to deal with company affairs, call the company staff without authorization by hospital phone, causing serious safety Hidden dangers.
2) Too arrogant:
Maybe he is used to bragging in his work and life. The male protagonist Paul insisted that he was an expert in order to show that he was not good at chopping wood, but he didn't split it for a long time. This "city man" is really too arrogant. It is too embarrassing to start showing off without knowing his specific abilities.
3) Too ignorant:
We always feel that people in the city should be exposed to more information and should be more disciplined. But the Morgans in the movie showed us their ignorance of the witness protection plan. The police finally parachuted the Morgans to the small town of Ray secretly, and arranged for a couple to protect them. They don't seem to know why the police don't let them call or contact the outside world at will. The female protagonist Meryl secretly found an opportunity to use the phone, this ignorant behavior almost cost them their lives.
Actors Sarah Jessica Parker and Hugh Grant perfectly interpret such a pair of disgusting "city people" images, with great acting skills! I have really felt the rudeness and ego of those "New Yorkers" during the years I have lived in the United States. It seems that it is not "New Yorker" if you don't push or run red lights in the crowd, and don't make stinky faces to strangers. . This film is the perfect "gift" given by the director and the performance team to these arrogant and ignorant city people, letting them know how many catties they are.
