An educational film about corrective treatment and parental conflicts. The focus on correction therapy is not strong enough, it is more about the contradiction between belief and family affection and self-growth.
The moral confession in the movie is really heart-wrenching. You must be forced to admit that you have never thought about things you haven't done before. From the beginning, you use colored glasses to define people. How can such treatment be useful? How could it be right?
Homosexuality is really not a disease. It cannot be corrected by treatment. The institutions in the movie are forced to change through brainwashing, oppression and abuse. Just like Yuzhang Academy, many people may choose because they cannot bear the psychological torture. Self-determination, this is where the tragedy lies, just like Cameron finally chose to commit suicide in the movie. However, these institutions exist because of some self-righteous parents who think they can change their children and make them "return to the right way" to become the kind of people they want. They always think that they are right and use "white lies". Whitewash yourself, use the excuse that this is for the sake of your children to give yourself peace of mind. In fact, sometimes the essence of solving problems is to change some of the parents' thoughts, rather than the so-called correction of some of the children's behaviors. Later, the mother in the movie was gentle and strong. When the son asked for help, he believed that his son would come and pick him up without asking why, saying "Shame on you!" Shuai exploded! Such parents are the strong backing of the child.
This film is sad and healed. I hope that more people can give more respect and understanding, and I hope we can find ourselves in the end.
Be yourself. Love is love.
