1. Long view, beautiful green countryside in Maryland, daytime
A short-distance train with three carriages spewed thick smoke as it chuckled through the pasture. A group of horses and foals ran wildly behind the train.
〔change〕
2. Medium shot, train
The train came to the station slowly in a rural town. When it stopped, the aisle inside the train appeared in the foreground, with the legs and feet of a man wearing western high-heeled boots on the stairs of the door. When the car stopped, he got out of the car and put the suitcase on the ground. The camera was zoomed to close-up, and the eye-catching record of Rita Ranch branded on the suitcase was seen. The music highlights the western melody of our Rita Ranch theme.
〔change〕
3. Vision, man
He was standing on the empty station, and the train slowly pulled out of the picture. He is very tall and wears a Stettson felt hat. An older man (Dr. Linden) walked to him, shook hands with him, and said that he would carry a suitcase for him. The westerner picked up the suitcase by himself, and the two talked as they walked to the car parked by the railway.
〔change〕
4. Middle shot, two men
They are sitting in a convertible. Dr. Linden drove, and his companion (Bick Benedict) sat beside him, looking around, very envious of the beauty of this green countryside. He heard a voice and reacted. Doctor Linden heard it too, and stopped the car.
5. Long view, next to bushes and hedges
In the nearby bushes, a fox chased by hounds ran across the road. The hunter followed immediately, and a group of hunters in pink coats and women in horseback riding outfits jumped over the hedges one after another. The leader was Leslie Linden, who rode on a majestic black stallion "Warwind", followed closely behind the hounds, and took the lead across the avenue.
6. Close-up shot of two men
Piccolo watched her gallop past with a look of excitement.
Dr. Linden: (excitedly) it's it, it's this stallion. This is the "wind of war".
Bick: It's so beautiful!
Dr. Linden: It is my daughter riding on its back. Leslie.
Bick: (watching the chaser who is disappearing away, muttering) Oh, oh.
Dr. Linden: Leslie is my daughter. She rides "Warwind".
Bick: (Pause) Doctor, it is indeed an excellent horse.
Doctor Linden smiled and agreed.
Dr. Linden: Okay, let's talk about horses first tomorrow morning. Now you go into the house, ready to have dinner.
〔change〕
7. Interior view, Linden’s restaurant
The restaurant is very old, but has the luxury and grandeur of the Maryland tradition. There were ten people sitting at the long table for dinner. Bick Benedict was inserted at the end of the dining table, sitting between Mrs. Linden, who was in the main seat, and Lacey (Lesley's sister) on his right. His interest was unknowingly attracted to Leslie at the other end of the table. She was sitting there, talking in a low voice with her neighbor, Sir David Carfrey. Dr. Linden was sitting next to her in the main seat. The other two pairs of young people, like Leslie and Carfrey, were dressed in evening gowns and sat around the dining table.
Mrs. Linden: So, you are from Nevada, are you? Mr. Beckwith?
Piccolo was watching Leslie quietly and did not hear the question in time.
Lacey: I'm from Texas, mom.
Mrs. Linden: Texas, are you from Texas? Mr. Beckwith.
Beek: Yes, ma'am, from Texas. My name is Benedict.
We can see that although Leslie is still listening to Jocafrey, but taking advantage of Piccolo's attention elsewhere, he quietly looked at him.
Mrs. Linden: Oh, you are here about horses, right?
Bick: Yes, ma'am. I'm here to buy the stallion "Warwind". (He glances at Leslie's side) If your daughter is not so reluctant to give up her love.
Lacey: (Very loud) You'd better not sell "War Wind", Dad, it's Leslie's favorite horse.
Dr. Linden: I have already talked about this with your sister.
Mrs. Linden: (Quietly Bik) Oh, you know, in all likelihood, our little Leslie will leave us soon.
Bick: Oh?
Mrs. Linden: (She tilts her head slightly) Sir David's embassy is in Washington. He is now being recalled to the UK. Would she like to go there?
Piccolo: Is she going to marry him?
Mrs. Linden: Here, this will happen sooner or later. It can be said that Leslie will always get married, no matter who she is with. I don't know what she is waiting for-God knows, she is not that pretty either.
Leslie was at the other end of the table, trying to hear what they were talking about, but couldn't. She noticed her sister turning her eyes to her mother suggestively.
Leslie: Mother, let me sell "Warwind" to Mr. Benedict. I can tell him all its faults. First, it eats too much—right, dad? But you see, Mr. Benedict, it's either "Warwind" or me. You must have a choice.
Dr. Linden: Hey, Leslie, this horse is too tough for any lady.
Bick: (Old servant Jefferson Sworthy is serving him coffee) I know, Miss Leslie, your horse will miss you and this beautiful green country, but I will try my best to make it live in Texas It's as comfortable as at home.
Leslie: Is Texas also green, Mr. Benedict?
Bick: No, miss, not exactly.
Mrs. Linden: What is Texas like, Mr. Benedict? You have to tell us.
Bick: Well, it's not easy to make it clear, I think it's different from other states. (Looking at Leslie) At least we think so. It can almost be said to be a different country.
Cafrey: Ah, for an Englishman, such as myself, its vastness alone is enough to shock you.
Bick: It is really big.
Cafrey: How big is your ranch?
Bick: There are big and small, and all kinds of big ones.
Dr. Linden: Benedict's Rita is the largest of all the ranch.
Cafrey: How big is it?
Bick: It is one of the large ranch.
Lacey: (staring into his eyes) How old?
Bick: There may be another one or two bigger ones, in our place... there are one or two bigger ones on the seaside plain.
Cafrey: Well, go ahead, Mr. Benedict, can you be more specific? How big is your place? Fifty thousand... twenty thousand acres?
Bick: (He looks at Leslie and feels her favor) About half a million, 595,000 acres to be precise.
Mrs. Linden turned her face away and looked at Piccolo indifferently, expressing suspicion.
Dr. Linden: I call it a fairly large one.
Mrs. Linden: How many acres did you say? Mr. Benedict.
Leslie: He said it was 595,000, Mom, you look greedy.
Leslie stood up and walked away lest Pic Benedict was more questioned.
Leslie: The witness can withdraw. (Bick stands up) Jordan, would you like to go to the Hunter's Prom with us? Quite fun.
Bick: No, thank you, Miss Leslie—I'm afraid I will be eye-catching when I get there.
When the rest of the people left the table, Piccolo and Leslie moved closer to each other and walked to the veranda together to continue their conversation. Others walked out of the restaurant to the corridor.
Mrs. Linden: I said, Dr. Linden, you don't seem to care about your daughter's future at all!
Doctor Linden: What's the matter, Nancy?
Mrs. Linden: You brought Mr. Benedict here, and you didn't say anything to me. You didn't say a word.
8. The steps of the veranda, Leslie and Pic, the moon is like a mirror
Bick: I like your place.
Leslie: Can you stay and take a closer look?
Bick: In my place, it's the season to drive the cattle, in spring.
Leslie: Your place?
Pic: Rita.
Leslie: My place and your place. Jordan, it sounds like we are far apart.
Bick: Maybe when you have a chance, you go out and have a look?
Carfrey: (outside the painting) Leslie, Leslie, dear--
She moved quietly, and stretched out her hand. Piccolo held it.
Bick: I think I will leave early in the morning, so-goodbye.
Leslie: I really feel very happy that you are here. I'm not here to say goodbye to you-now-in the moonlight, so emotional-good night.
He let go of her hand. Leslie left.

9. Interior view, Bick's bedroom, night
Piccolo lay on a bed he couldn't sleep, his head between the soft frills of the embroidered quilt and the pillow. He heard the music from the hunter's ball in the distance, got up and walked to the window, listened to it for a while, then turned around and walked to the bed and lay down.

10. Close-up, old grandfather clock, foyer
It's ten and fifty-five. The camera pans to the front door, and Leslie returns from the prom and walks into the silent house. She hesitated for a while, and then suddenly made up her mind, walked to the door of the study, and walked in.
11. Interior view, study room, middle view
Leslie turned on a light, went to the bookcase, and looked up the books carefully.

12. Interior view, Leslie's bedroom
Leslie was lying on the bed, surrounded by books. She is reading in a hurry. After a while, the door opened slowly with a click, and Leslie glanced to see who had come in. It's Lacey.
Lacey: Did the dance go well?
Lacey walked to the bed and picked up a book.
Lacey: Did you leave the Hunter Ball just to come back to read?
Leslie: Go to bed and be a good boy.
Lacey has picked up the second book. She glanced, then glanced at her sister.
Lacey: Texas! Whoohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
Leslie was already immersed in reading.
Lacey: Are you in love with him?
Leslie: (Still reading) I think I am in love.
Lacey: Oh, hoo!
Leslie: Would you please do something good and go to sleep?
Lacey: Leslie—
Lacey walked to the door.
Leslie: Good night!
Lacey opened the door, almost walked out of the doorway, and turned back.
Lacey: If you don't plan to marry David-okay-can you give him to me?
Leslie: (stiffly) Yes! Good night!
With that, she dived more into the book; Lacey closed the door.

15. Panoramic lens, Linden Manor
The countryside bathed in the early morning sun looks fresh and magnificent. Piccolo rode the "war wind" on the ranch, heroic and chic. Later, he patted his horse and went straight to the house.
16. An upstairs window
Leslie was staring out the window, attracted by the sight we had just seen. When we listened to the horses' hoofs kicking the gravel ground, she kept staring at them until they stopped right under her window.
17. Panoramic view, front porch
Doctor Linden and Swarsey stood there watching Piccolo ride a horse. When Piccolo dismounted, a male servant took the reins and led the "War Wind" away.
Bick: For me, Dr. Linden, the deal is settled.
He looked around cautiously, looking for someone.
Dr. Linden: Ten thousand dollars is a lot of money, Jordan.
Bick: It's a good horse.
Linden: Okay, come on, Jordan. Let's have breakfast first, and then work.
〔change〕
18. Interior view, Linden’s restaurant
The sideboards were filled with plates of a hearty breakfast. The men took their food and sat at the dining table. Leslie hurried in, but stopped immediately. She was wearing a white-collar blue dress with white cuffs and ribbons on her head. She looked very young, but her face was pale.
Dr. Linden: (Looking at her with a look of surprise) Why, Leslie, you...
Leslie: Oh, good morning.
She looked at her father calmly and began to serve breakfast from the plate.
Bick: (I feel relieved) You... uh... you don't look like you danced all night, Miss Leslie.
Leslie: (pours a cup of coffee, pauses for a moment, decisively) I went home at 10:45, read some books about Texas, and kept seeing it at 5 o'clock early in the morning.
Dr. Linden: Oh, Leslie, let this poor man have his breakfast down to earth.
Bick: There are a lot of books to read-Texas books.
Leslie: We actually stole Texas, right, Mr. Benedict? I mean it was stolen from Mexico.
Bicker rested for a long time before answering.
Bick: It's too early for you to joke with me, Miss Leslie.
Leslie: I'm not kidding, Jordan. This is how it is written in history books. Isn't it? It said that Mr. Austin moved to 300 households. You know, they will claim this place from Mexico in the next step.
Dr. Linden: Leslie, you...
Bick: I have never seen someone as ignorant as some Easterners. Well, it...
Leslie: Please, Jordan, I'm just talking about history objectively.
Bick: You, you think all things worth showing off are in the east... In Bunker Hill (Note 1) and Forge Valley (Note 2), do you know...
Leslie: Jordan, you...
Piccolo: Do you know Saint Vacinda? Have you heard of Alamo (note 3)?
Leslie: Of course, I read about them last night. I am not trying to be rude, but it is novel to me. I just want to say that it is all new to me and so attractive.
Dr. Linden: But, Leslie, you shouldn't talk to a Texan like that. They have deep feelings for the countryside.
Leslie: (To father) Then he shouldn't be so brooding. (Bikk) You must have been spoiled by someone...your wife, or someone else?
Piccolo was taken aback at this sudden change of topic.
Bick: I don't have a wife. I live with my sister.
Leslie: (naughty) Why don't you get married? Jordan.
Dr. Linden: Oh, Leslie, you were talking about people's homeland first, and now you want to inquire about other people's family life.
Bick: (takes a breath) Thank you, doctor. (Folding his napkins) Texas is a great place for women. Women here are spoiled for some reason.
Lacey took the seat next to Leslie.
Lacey: How about here?
Dr. Linden: (clears his throat) It's time for us, Jordan. (Looks at the watch) If you plan to catch the train.
Mrs. Linden stepped into the screen and interrupted the conversation.
Mrs. Linden: Good morning, everyone. Good morning, Mr. Benedict, Leslie, my dear, if Mr. Benedict has run out of breakfast, why didn't you ask him to look at the stables?
Leslie: We just had a polite quarrel for Texas, so it’s impossible to force me to him. Besides, Mr. Benedict may be marrying the young lady of the neighboring rancher. She is beautiful. , But he is poor compared to him, with only 200,000 acres of land and 500,000 cattle.
Mrs. Linden: (Bikke) Is she pretty?
Piccolo: Who?
Dr. Linden: (looks at his watch, surprised) I must hurry up. Mr. Benedict and I are leaving now. Goodbye, everyone.
Dr. Lyndon stood up as he spoke, and walked to the door, Piccolo was in the doorway, waiting for Leslie to go by first. He turned around and walked with her, but Mrs. Linden followed him.
Mrs. Linden: May I ask, who is the blessed lady you are going to marry? She has so many cows.
19. Exterior view, veranda
Doctor Linden hurried down the steps. Leslie was on the steps, hesitating.
Doctor Linden: I'm going to get a car.
Piccolo entered the screen, Mrs. Linden was with him, but his eyes were on Leslie waiting there.
Bick: (To Mrs. Linden) The interesting thing is that my neighbor is a girl—Vashti Rick. (Raises voice) There may have been talks about me marrying her, but that was not my plan.
Dr. Linden: (outside the picture) Come on, Benedict, if you plan to catch the train.
Leslie looked at Piccolo and found that he was looking at her. She turned around to hold him, and began to walk slowly down the steps. Lacey appeared in the doorway of the back scene, still swallowing her breakfast.
There was the sound of the train whistle.
Mrs. Linden: Oh, everything sounds so romantic.
Lacey stepped a little away, letting Cafrey come out of the house, full of energy.
Cafrey: Where are people going!
20. Long view, the camera is facing the wall
Piccolo and Leslie are taking a walk. The small train drove from the back view, emitting white smoke.
21. Close-up, Dr. Linden
He sits in front of the steering wheel. The car has started. He turned his head to look at the train, glanced at Pic and Leslie again, had to turn off the engine.
22. Medium shot, veranda
Lacey stretched out her arm to hold Carfrey.
Lacey: Come on, David. You belong to me.
She was strolling with him on the veranda.
23. Vision, Piccolo and Leslie
They stood by the railings of the ranch, "War Wind" galloped with their heads high. The little train spewed out white smoke and disappeared in the distance. We heard it whistle faintly.

24. Location, wilderness, evening
We heard the speed of the train. The camera was shooting along a gap in an express train. "Zhanfeng" was covered with a blanket. We only saw its head and shoulders, and its forehead and mane were blown by the hurried train. The train honked its whistle and passed the intersection. "Zhanfeng" looked back at the rear of the train. The lens stops. The windows of the train flicked across the screen.
〔change〕
25. The window, at the end of the train, at night
Through the window, Piccolo and Leslie could be seen in a dimly lit room. Their heads leaned together and stared out the window, forming a pleasant and pleasant scene.
26. Moving lens, night scene
The train sprinted past. A coyote was seen stopping for a while facing the car lights, and then ran away.
27. Interior view, bedroom in luxury train, night
The indoor light is weak, so the two travelers can see the night view outside. Leslie watched the mysterious night of the West unfolding before him, completely intoxicated.
Leslie: (holds Piccolo's arm) What is that, a wolf?
Bick: No, baby, just an old coyote.
Pick left the window and went back to lie down on the bed.
Bick: (stretching) You have enough sightseeing, shouldn't it be time for a break, baby? (He puts down the curtain, leaving a little gap so that it can leak into the moonlight)
Leslie: You tell me as soon as we enter Texas.
Bick: My dear, you have Texas right under your eyes. It's been eight hours.
Leslie: (Lying down comfortably in the dark) Jordan, just drive a special train for two people. It's just too beautiful.
Bick: So far, we can't say that this matter is boring. Baby, this...
Leslie: (thinking about it) I don’t know how other brides feel on their honeymoon, Mr. Benedict, I had a great time.
Bick: (After a long while) Thank you.
〔change〕
28. Medium shot, at the back of a moving train, at night
The camera moved quickly to follow the shot and saw the brass tail of a special car. The gleaming sign reads "Texas and the West." We see the trademark and letters in the circle of the logo: "Benedict-Rita".
〔Into〕
29. Same as above scene, stationary train
The morning glow obliquely shone on the sign.

30. Bedroom, special train, daytime
The curtains drooped-a bunch of Chenxi projected in. Leslie curled up on the messy bed, sleeping soundly. Hearing the sound of a door latch, the camera panned to the bathroom. Piccolo poked his head out of it. He has already shaved his face.
Bick: (gently) Wake up, we're here.
He knelt beside her and shook her gently.
Bick: Here we are, baby.
Leslie woke up.
Leslie: Where are we—who— (she smiles when she sees him) Oh, hello.
She leaned slightly, rolled up the curtains and looked out. Through the windows of the carriages of the trains that have been transferred to the branch line, an endless expanse of land is revealed.
Leslie: (shocked) This is Texas?
Beek: (walks to the window) This is Benedict, my dear, I came from here.
There was a gust of wind, and dust whirled in front of the window.
Leslie: (Adjacent to the glass) It's nothing to look at, is it?
Bick: Texas is a big place, dear, that's not all of it. I'm worried that what the kid called will be delayed.
Leslie: I can see a large area of land.
Bick: You haven't seen a little bit of my ranch yet, let alone Texas. Uh-finally. This is not good. The villain O'Brien is beating my "Du Senberg".
31. Shoot from their point of view
When a car galloped across the prairie towards the railway branch line, a cloud of dust was picked up.
〔change〕
32. Extremely long-term, endless stretches of the vast land of Texas
In the foreground, the luxurious special train stopped at the end of the mountain mouth, obscured by the constant wind and dust. On the other side of the railway, an express train stopped, "Zhanfeng" was led down and onto a beautiful trailer, and the "Du Senberg" car was waiting by the side. There is a wire on top of it, whining—a single whining sound constantly.
〔change〕
33. Close-up shot, connecting the footboard of the train corridor
Piccolo and Leslie left the comfort of the special train, got out of the car and stepped on the ground in Texas. Les paddled warmly to withstand the biting cold wind. The feet in the blue uniform helped her get out of the car.
34. Vision, panning
They walked to Piccolo's "Du Senberg" car. The car driver Angel Obrigan was packing his luggage. A young Mexican guy is holding the horse near the trailer. Leslie walked quickly towards "War Wind".
35. Feature, Leslie and "Warwind"
She was appeasing the "war wind", which looked anxious in this open field. We vaguely heard Piccolo reprimanding Ingres in Spanish in the background, blaming him for preparing the car late at such a critical moment. Leslie walked towards them.
36. Close-up, Piccolo and Angel
Leslie enters the screen.
Bick: These people never learn to take responsibility.
Anger shrugged when he heard the words. Leslie may have made an enthusiastic gesture for Angel's good, and reached out his hand amicably.
Leslie: This is Mrs. Benedict.
Angel didn't dare to shake her outstretched hand presumptuously.
Angel: (Spanish) Welcome, madam.
He opened a paper bag and took out a beautiful bouquet with a rustic flavor.
Angel: (Spanish) Welcome newlyweds.
He cast a tentative look at Piccolo, then timidly offered the flowers to Leslie.
Leslie: (very moved) Oh! (Look at Piccolo)
Bick: (Translation) Newlyweds are welcome. Thank you, Angel.
Leslie: Oh! (Receiving the bouquet) Oh, thank you-thank you-thank you.
Bick: (Opens the car door) All right, Leslie.
Leslie: What's your name?
Angel: It's Angel, Angel Obrigan.
Leslie: The name is very good. thanks. Angel Obrigan.
Bick: (uncomfortable) Come on, Leslie.
Leslie smiled affectionately and left Angel, but unexpectedly met Piccolo after he boarded the car. She looked at him inexplicably.
Bick: It takes fifty miles to get coffee.
〔change〕
37. Vast plains and bushes
We saw Piccolo's car speeding through the bushes. A mile of dust was rolled up behind the car.
〔change〕
38. Insert lens, speedometer
The pointer points to eighty miles per hour.
〔change〕
39. Exterior shot, the foreground is the gate of the old tower
The car dragged a large cloud of smoke and dust, roared toward the foreground, and drove into the gate. The camera pans. Suddenly, the huge, castle-like Rita Ranch building stood out on the plain.
40. Close-up, Piccolo and Leslie
Bick: This is it, baby. Got home.
Leslie: Oh, the house is really big. I thought it was just a ranch—a ranch house.
41. Through the windshield, the solemn old mansion
When the car arrived, it suddenly appeared on the plain.
Bick’s voice: When my father built this house, he showed the cotton farmers that cattle-raising men are as capable as they are.
42. A close-up shot of the building
The car drove over and stopped in the main lane. Leslie got out of the car and looked up at the house.
Leslie: It's really big, just let us live.
Bick: Luz and I—we live together. Since her mother's death, she has taken care of the house. (Chan Ran smiles) It can also be said that she is in charge of the ranch.
43. Shoot the lane from another angle
The jack lifted up a Ford light truck, and the engine cover was lifted down, waiting for repair. A greasy face appeared under the car, looking at people casually.
44. Vision, in front of the house
Two Mexican maids entered the screen and bowed in salute. Piccolo told them about the luggage.
Leslie: (try your own Spanish, charmingly) Thank you. thanks.
Bick: Don't be so nervous.
Leslie: (to the maid) What is your name?
The maids stood there blankly, looking at each other.
45. Close shot, Jet Link
He crawled out from under the Ford. He looked like an enthusiastic young man, with an unusually strong physique. He got up from the driver's seat and looked calmly.
46. Medium shot, Piccolo, Leslie and the servants
Leslie: (Spanish) Lupu-Pietra, thank you... Lupu-Pietra, thank you.
The maids spread out with their luggage and grinned.
Bick: Don't go too far, please.
Leslie: What went wrong?
Bick: (giving up the courage) We don't be polite like this.
Leslie: Be polite?
Bick: Here... it's a fuss among these people. (Laughs wryly) You are now a Texan.
Leslie: Is this a state of mind? I'm still me.
Bick: You are my wife, dear.
Leslie: I have my own ideas. No matter where I am, being kind and polite is always acceptable.
Bick: We are kind and polite. But you read too much. This is your fault.
47. Close-up, Piccolo and Leslie
He noticed that she had been offended.
Bick: Honey, I'm sorry.
She thought of one thing and became proud.
Leslie: That's great. Standing here, bickering, we still have rice grains in our hair. (Note 4)
They hug. We saw that the strong enthusiasm brought the two of them together. He picked her up with both hands, slammed the door open, and stepped into the threshold (Note 5).
48. Close-up, Jet Link
He was thoughtful, perhaps more resolute.
49. Interior view, foyer
When they came in, their laughter echoed on the tall wall. They kissed her for a long time, silently, and passionately.
50. Long lens
Filming Luz Benedict. She hurried to the hall and stopped less than ten feet away from the gluey couple. She just stood there. Leslie looked at the room.
Leslie: Oh, it's cold.
Piccolo put her on the ground. She leaned on him staggeringly, and they both saw Luz at the same time.
Luz: I thought someone was uncomfortable.
Bick: (Joyfully) Oh, here you are, Luz. we are coming. We are home.
Luz: Oh, really. Hello, Miss Linden.
Piccolo: Luz, this is my wife, Mrs. Benedict. Don't be eager to Leslie as soon as you come up. Leslie, this is my sister.
Leslie: Of course it is.
Luz: Very welcome. We have been waiting for you for several weeks. (She smiles and holds Leslie's hand vigorously)
Leslie: We didn't plan to come earlier, did we?
Luz: All the stubbles in the spring should be done... driving the herd, I didn't expect Piccolo would not come back.
Bick: If it's only during the honeymoon that the gathering of the cattle is delayed, I can't miss three trips twice.
Piccolo heard the sound of cars in the driveway and turned to look out the window.
Piccolo: I think I fired him. (To the door)
51. Location, driveway
Jett sat in the driver's seat of the "Du Senberg" brand car and increased the throttle hard. Black smoke came out of the exhaust pipe. Piccolo walked into the screen.
Bick: Wait. What do you want to do with this car?
Jeter: Don't rush to me. The truck broke down. Don't worry.
52. Luz and Leslie
Looking at them in the room.
Luz: (a smile crosses his face) Jordan and Jeter always quarrel endlessly about something. please forgive.
She walked away, and we could hardly hear the voices of the two men.
53. Medium shot, lane
Jeter got out of the car.
Jeter: I had already left as you said. She wants me to stay and work because you are gone and I can't be too busy. I stayed. Can get a good report.
Piccolo looked around and saw Luz. She slightly confirmed that Jeter was telling the truth.
Jeter: The truck broke down, so I had to grab it to pull the parts. I have a lot of work to do.
Bick: All right. Remember, next time I say to do, you have to do it.
Jeter: (shrugs) Tell the lady about it. She is in charge.
Luz: That's it. You are gone, we need help here.
Jeter: Except for you and me, Piccolo, everyone else is afraid of her.
Bick: All right. Just do your job.
Jeter: Tell me, who is the master here, so I can do what he says.
Jeter started walking towards the car, but when Leslie walked out of the house, he stopped. He looked at her presumptuously, as if looking forward to introducing him. Bick saw it.
Luz: Jeter, this is Piccolo's bride. Leslie, this guy is called Jet Link. He works for us.
Leslie: (smiles) Hello.
Jeter: Hello.
He is still standing there. Luz felt that Piccolo wanted him to go away.
Luz: You better go, Jeter. Fix the car.
Jett hesitated for a moment, and got into the car muttering.
Jeter: There is no owner in this place, no one, no matter what they think.
Piccolo almost laughed at these words. He turned around and walked towards the house with Leslie.
Bick: I'm sorry, my dear, every time I'm not at home, things get messed up.
〔change〕
54. Grand Stairs
Piccolo and Leslie had climbed up the stairs, and Leslie looked back down the hall. Luz was still up the stairs.
Luz: Of course, we even let them sleep on cots-just in the hallway below. Remember that big competitive show, Bick?
They walked to the corridor.
Luz: (laughing) Yeah-Kyle Bibby was drunk. Sleeping on the sofa in Piccolo's office. He must have had a sleepy dream all night, because his boot spurs lined the sofa in a row.
When the servants entered the room with boxes, they stopped.
Luz: This is Piccolo's room. (Along the corridor again) Your room is on the other end, dear.
She stood still, noticing that no one was following her. There was a long silence, then Leslie chuckled softly, and Piccolo was also happy. They became more and more happy-laughed happily, as if both of them had fallen into a honeypot.
55. Close-up, Luz
Her eyes fixed on them both. She lowered her face, expressing her sorrow at an unclear joke.
56. Shoot from another angle
Piccolo suppressed a smile and patted Luz lightly on the shoulder.
Bick: Ah, sister, mine is already married, you know what's going on. We use that big suite. We can use one as a living room, where it’s ventilated and we can sit down and chat.
Leslie: It's not about telling people, Luz-just talking about the family.
57. Close-up, Luz
Luz: That's right—of course, of course.

58. Vision, the middle of the building, at night
We saw Piccolo and Leslie. She was wearing a large and well-made robe, ready to go to dinner. Piccolo wore a pair of canvas trousers, a brushed top and an open neckline. He vividly explained the decorative flags displayed on the wall.
Bick: These six flags. Baby, they are the history of Texas. This is the first, the Spanish flag. Then there is the French flag, and then the Mexican flag. Baby, this is the flag of the Republic of Texas. (He holds up the tip of the flag, suppressing the extremely proud expression in his heart to show off the flag) This is our fifth flag, the flag of the Federation——
Leslie: (Look at the last flag and take his words) You don't need to say it or you know it-this is the flag of the United States.
From the direction of the dining room, we heard Luz's kicking footsteps coming over. They turned to meet her. She walked into the screen and stopped when she saw Leslie.
Luz: Oh, come in! Where can I go to the banquet? OMG!
Leslie stood there, startled.

59. The dining room is occupied by a large table
Twenty people can sit on the table. Starting from the table, there are rows of bottles-ketchup, chili sauce, vinegar, oil, etc. at a distance. The three were sitting at one end of the dining table, and Piccolo sat at the head of the table. Two Mexican maids served dishes, including fried steak, greens, mashed potatoes, and flour broth.
Bick: She looks cute, isn't she, Luz?
Luz: I'm wondering where she wears so many evening dresses.
Bick: She is going to wear it for me. Really, Leslie?
Leslie: (Hearing a little Luz's stubble) I changed my evening gown to checkered cloth. I know that managing such a big house requires a lot of things.
Luz raised his eyes suspiciously.
Bick: Luz, she will take care of everything.
Luz: My dear, the house will take care of it by itself-I just need to take a picture every now and then.
Leslie: Of course, but—
Bick: Let you live in this house happily. We just hope you like it here, right, Luz?
Luz: Yes, Piccolo. (To Leslie) You don't have to worry at all, baby.
After a moment of silence--

60. Close shot, weather vane, dawn
The weather vane installed at the upper end of the stable is a copper pointer imitating a long angle. When the wind blows continuously, it trembles constantly.
61. Insert the lens, one hand
A hand holding a steel pipe knocked on the iron triangle.
〔Flash in〕
62. Close-up, Leslie
She was still in a coquettish state of sound sleep. The sound of the gong calling for breakfast and the neighing of "Comanche" prompted her to open her eyes. She quickly figured out where she was. She turned to the other side of the big bed and saw only the indentation on her husband's pillow, proving that she was not alone. She got up from the bed, walked quickly to the window, the rising sun shone on her face, and she saw--
63. Big panorama
Piccolo rides on a horse, wearing cowboy leather pants and a Stettson felt hat. He was turning the horse's head, relaxing the horse, and ran to a group of shepherd boys in the distance. Piccolo rode on the creepy "Comanche" she was neighing, and skimmed through the air, his horse tensed his muscles and leaped hard. In the middle of this man and horse farm, we feel the vigorous atmosphere in the early morning.
64. Interior view, bedroom
Leslie was looking out, then left the window and quickly put on clothes.

65. Vision, Foyer
Leslie went downstairs, dressed well, ready to go horseback riding. She pushed open the wide front door and stood there looking in the direction of Piccolo. The wind was blowing, blowing the dust into the house, and she closed the door. Panning the camera, taking Luz in, she stood there looking at Leslie.
Luz: Hello. Pietra has prepared your breakfast.
Leslie: (Tenderly) Have you had breakfast with Piccolo?
Luz: Of course I have. Piccolo and I, we have spent our entire lives having coffee together at five o'clock in the morning and discussing matters. Arrange your daily affairs properly.
Leslie: Oh? I was planning to ride with him to drive the herd.
Luz: This is too hot for you. I told him.
Leslie: Oh?
Luz: Pietra! Bring breakfast here. (To Leslie) You have to avoid the sun. The sun is violent.
Pietra came in and put the tray in front of Leslie. What is particularly conspicuous is that there is a fried egg on top of the steak.
Luz: Sit down. Your bones are too thin. Many easterners are like this.
Leslie: Thank you, Petra. (Spanish) Thank you. (To Luz) I'm fine, Luz. I may be stronger than you think.
Luz: I—I've never been sick in my life—unless I was thrown off by a horse and trampled. (She starts to walk away) All you have to do is to settle down, the air of the affluent Texas will make you stronger. (She stops and looks back at Leslie) You don't have to worry about being lonely. I am going to summon some neighbors, and you will meet some people. This is real. You want to meet some people.
66. Close-up, Leslie
She was buttering the toast, but now she stopped and watched Luz leave. There was a gentle and decisive expression on her face.

67. Close-up, Piccolo and Leslie
Piccolo put on the gown for the feast, western style. Leslie's clothes are pretty free and easy, seeming to be overly elegant in her surroundings. They were among a group of people preparing to hold a traditional burnt-roasted whole beef feast. Leslie looked up at the sun, then blocked his eyes from the sun. She moved to the shade of a lonely tree and attracted people. She leaned on the tree pole and enjoyed herself, lucky to find a shelter from the sun.
Luz: Leslie, this is Ada Rose Morton, this is Joe Ella Bizan, and Yura Jacks. (She shook hands with the girls as they passed Leslie) Mitz Water Tanner, Oria Hildebrand, Franny Kling.
The girl at the end of the row did not come over, just stood there.
Bick: (to Leslie) Now you are going to meet your neighbors.
Leslie: My nearest neighbor? The one who lives fifty miles away with many cows?
Bick: (nods to Vashti) This is her... (he shouts) Vashti!
Vashti was hesitant, silent, and a little unhappy. Then she came over. Leslie also walked towards her.
Leslie: (Enthusiastically) I am so happy to finally see you. You are Vashti Heck. Jordan mentioned you to me many times.
Vashti flushed, very cautious, hesitated for a moment, then stretched out his hand to greet him.
Vashti: Nice to meet you. Mrs. Jordan Benedict.
They shook hands. Vashti smiled.
Leslie: I'm glad we are neighbors, Vashti, and now we better start to be friends.
A short shepherd came from behind Vashti. He said timidly--
Little Shepherd: Hello, Piccolo.
Bick: Pinkey! Have you been here?
Pinky: (Being bolder) Hello, Mrs. Benedict. My name is Mott Snaith—they call me Pinkey.
Leslie: Are you from Rita?
Bick: Pinky is the head of Heike Ranch.
Pinky: (humbly) Thank you, Bick.
68. Luz by the barbecue grill
She was there to monitor the grand and grand burnt roasted whole beef.
Luz: Piccolo! You-Piccolo, come here!
69. The camera goes back to the crowd
People pass whiskey made from corn in tin cups.
Oli Whiteside: I suggest to toast the daughter of old Maryland to congratulate her on becoming a citizen of the one-star state (Note 6). (Raising the glass)
The crowd raised their wine glasses. Most people drank a big mouthful of corn whiskey; they made a statement that was very pleasant, even though it was spicy. Leslie saw that she felt that the toast was more for Texas than for her, and she took a sip. The wine was so spicy that she had to lean back under the shade of the tree and stroke her forehead with her hand. Piccolo noticed.
Bick: Are you okay? Baby.
Leslie: (Cheer up) Very good, dear.
Voice: Cheers to the bride!
Vashti's eyes turned to Pinky. She held his hand. We saw Pinkey's eyes fixed on Vashti, and said in a clear voice alone——
Pinkey: Cheers to the bride!
Vashti: (Timidly) There seems to be more than one bride here today.
Piccolo: What's the matter?
Vashti: Mott Snaith and I got married in Hermoso yesterday.
There were shouts of congratulations and surprises. People flocked to Pinji and Vashti. Piccolo stood at the forefront, and his sincere joy and kindness made him radiant.
Bick: Okay, Vashti, okay, I can't be happy anymore, if I--
Vashti: (with tears and eyes) Thank you, Bick.
70. The venue for the burnt roast of the whole cow
In the background, Yusubio lifts something from the field, Luz observes from the side. She reacted to the people around Vashti.
Luz: Oh. I think I am the only one left.
Adalan Clinch: Luz, in Novus County, as we all know, you are more interested in herding cattle than in love.
Luz: There should be a fair word for the animals. After you brand it a fire mark, you at least know which pasture it belongs to. (She turns to the area where the whole cow is burnt.) Children, take it out.
A calf's head that was smoking hot on the grill was put on a large plate.
Luz stood on the bench and yelled--
Luz: Come and take it away, or I will throw it in the ditch.
Everyone cheered enthusiastically.
71. Everyone's lens, next to the tree
There are Leslie and Piccolo on the screen.
Leslie: (smiling) I'm starving. (She turns around to look at the exquisite food, surprised) What is this?
Bick: It's a delicacy you've never eaten before, baby-a real whole Mexican burnt beef.
Piccolo led Lesorie closer.
Bick: We took off the cow's head, peeled it, wrapped it in canvas, and put it on the screw bean charcoal stove.
Leslie: (weakly) How charming.
They line up and the bride and groom take the lead. Piccolo handed a plate to Leslie, and took one himself. Standing by the table, Yusubio had already skilfully removed the top of the bull's head, neatly-as if he was fixing a tender egg. He reached into the cranial cavity with a spoon and began to scoop out the cow's brain and put it on the plate in front of him. Leslie began to turn around and walk away.
Leslie: (murmurs) I'm not hungry, really, it's so hot.
Luz: (loudly) This is pretty hot! Check it out in July!
Yusubio took a tablespoon and put it in her saucer, and bowed.
Yusubio: (Spanish) Mrs.
Pinkey: (croutly) I ate it while it was hot!
Les used all her strength, staggered a few steps, and fainted on Piccolo's arm. He picked her up and led her out of the crowd. The camera pans to a close-up of Luz.
Luz: Well, I'm afraid of such a thing.

72. Weather vane, dawn
We saw the dazzling light reflected from the windows of the simple work shed. Wan Lai was all silent.

73. Leslie and Bick's bedroom, dawn
In the dim light, we can recognize a person lying on the big bed. The man wriggled around and stretched out a hand, and we saw that it was Pic. He found that there was no one around him, so he yawned, looked around, and shouted—
Bick: Leslie—
No one agreed, he sat up, and the harsh sound of the triangle summoned his family. Piccolo reached for his clothes.
74. Close-up, triangle iron
Someone was hitting the triangle iron hard. When we pulled behind the camera, we saw that the hand holding the iron handle was Leslie's. She has put on a riding outfit that looks like a worker. Two Mexican maids stood behind her, looking at her. Leslie quickly turned around and walked to--

75. Foyer
Luz was walking down the stairs, feeling a little strange, she stopped, and she saw Leslie walk in from the kitchen, followed by the maid.
Leslie: Good morning, Luz.
Luz: What are you doing?
Leslie: Prepare breakfast. Let's pick it up, Luz. I don't want to take your place. I want you to understand a little-I can't let you take my place. I can't just be a guest at my husband's house.
Piccolo came downstairs and walked towards Leslie.
Leslie: Good morning, dear. I am going to wake you up.
Bick: What do you think? You look great!
Leslie: I want everyone to know that no matter what happens to this ranch in the future, I will never faint again.
Leslie took him and walked into the dining room together.
Beek: (Laughs as I sit down) I will never touch you, Mrs. Benedict. (He sees Luz hesitating) Sit down, Luz.
Luz: I don't want to join in. Maybe you are willing to eat together alone.
Leslie: Are you a reasonable person, Luz. Sit down.
Bick: I don't ask for breakfast without you.
Luz sat down.

76. Exterior view, in front of the house
When Leslie pulled the "Warwind" to a position where she could easily put her foot into the stirrups, Piccolo was already riding on the horse.
77. Close-up, Luz
She was standing in the half-open doorway.
Luz: Piccolo, if I were you: I would let her ride a gentler horse.
78. Long view, Luz in the background
When the horse turned around, Leslie tugged on the reins of Warwind and turned on the saddle. Piccolo and Leslie rode away.
79. Close-up, Luz
She watched them.
80. Panorama, the man and woman
They let the two horses gallop at full speed for a moment.

81. Cattle, early morning
The cattle squeezed together, forming a huge stream of slowly moving flesh.

82. A close-up of a rider, Poirot.
He is riding his horse forward. He turned to inspect the herd. His head was set against the background of the dawn sky, majestic and majestic—a typical elder's face.
83. Close-up, Piccolo and Leslie
Leslie: Look at him. He looks like a Spanish nobleman.
Bick: He is the leader of the herders. I guess he stayed here longer than any of us. From the time of Benedict's grandfather.
84. Extreme Vision, Pic and Leslie
They galloped towards Poirot-the big cattle were moving leisurely in the background. Poirot bowed to Leslie in the saddle to welcome him. We heard the sound of spurs kicking, the mooing of the calf, and the roar of the bull. The men shouted loudly, some in Spanish and some in English. Piccolo joins this strange sound symphony and directs the herd. "Uh-oh-" "Uh-oh-".
Bick: Look at them, dear. Nothing in the world can match them. Have you seen so many animals?
Leslie: Are these all ours?
Bick: (Proudly and excitedly) These, and there are forty-nine thousand more—just like them. It's ours, Bao Jianer. Uh oh - uh oh - (greeting shepherds) Oh, Miguel! Lopez.
The shepherds returned salute to him: Good morning, master.
Bick: Grandfather and his guys rode on his longhorns-a large group-from here (making a big gesture with their hands)-all the way to Kansas.
Leslie: That's awesome!
Bick: Yes-he is a great guy, strong. (He found Leslie interested.) My father brought in cattle from Europe and fed them croaking.
A calf walked into the picture from in front of them, followed by a shepherd.
Bick: Be careful—you lunatic—(he continues) These are the results, honey—look at them.
His face showed vigorous brilliance and ardent expectations. Leslie saw it, realizing that such a scene would excite him.

85. Drive-in activities, intense heat, smoke billowing, later in the day
The sun is hanging high. The herders threw the rope around the cow, pressed the cow to the ground, and branded the calf with fire. Leslie rode on "Warwind" and stayed out of the way. Piccolo was tacking the bull and stopped to look at Leslie.
86. Insert the mark of Rita's burning red
Someone was holding a red mark, which was about to be branded onto a lying cow.
87. Close-up of Leslie
The smoke rose, and the cow roared.
88. Close-up of Piccolo
He rode his horse and ran towards her, the camera followed.
Bick: What do you think?
Leslie: I believe I can't eat beef anymore.
Piccolo: Do you think the steak is grown from a silver plate and served with celery? ...Tired, baby?
Leslie: Don't worry about me. I am now a strong Texan.
The two horses stood tightly side by side. The saddle skins rub against each other.
Bick: (quietly) You know I love you, Texas.
He looked around, no one was looking at him, so he leaned over to hug her and kissed her immediately.
89. Long view, a truck passing by the wilderness
Jeter was driving, and Luz sat beside him. We can tell from their curious expressions that they happened to see the intimacy between Piccolo and Leslie. Jett tilted the car suddenly, avoiding a calf.
90. Medium shot, Piccolo
He saw the above scene.
Piccolo: It's not good, it's terribly hateful, if he crushes a cow, I will get rid of him myself.
The car entered the screen and stopped. Luz got off the car. She is wearing a riding attire.
Luz: Hello everyone.
Leslie: Okay, Luz.
Luz: I'm out, so I can spend a while with the cattle.
91. Close-up, Jeter
The camera panned him turning the car around, ready to go home. He worked mechanically, keeping his eyes on Leslie.
92. Close-up, Piccolo
Bick: Jeter, wait a minute! I want you to take Mrs. Benedict home away from such a hot place. (To Leslie) Honey, get in the car and follow Jeter.
93. Close-up, Jet Link
He turned his back to them and stopped the car. His face was slightly strange, a little jittery—almost taken aback. He looked at the mess in the truck and brushed a leaf from the seat.
94. Close-up, Leslie and Piccolo
Leslie: I'm fine, Jordan, really.
Bick: Don't do too much, baby. You have done enough today.
Leslie dismounted. Piccolo took the rein from her.
95. Close-up, Luz
She nodded seriously in agreement.
96. Close-up, Leslie
Leslie: (Bike kindly) I was very happy this morning.
97. Medium shot
Jet Link was sitting in the truck. He opened the door for Leslie, and leaned in, feeling a little uneasy. Leslie entered the screen and boarded the truck.
Leslie: Good morning, Jeter. (Yan Ran smiles)
Jeter: Hello.
Piccolo's voice: Don't be nervous, Jeter.
Jie nodded, put the car in the car, and drove away.
98. Medium shot
Luz was walking on the ground, Piccolo turned on his horse and watched the truck leave.
Bick: (smiling and shouting) You don't need to be nervous. I am talking about you.
A shepherd took the reins of "Warwind" from Piccolo and led the horse away.
Luz: Piccolo, I don't want to nag about this, but I think we should make it clear. I take care of this house, right? (She raises her voice, her voice trembles a little) Her house, her kitchen, her servants, she doesn't even speak Spanish.
Bick: If they want to figure it out, their English is good enough.
Luz: I know how to deal with Mexicans. I have done it all my life. If I don't watch them, they will ride on our white people's heads all day long.
Piccolo: It's okay, Luz. Calm down.
Piccolo dismounted.
Luz: (Calm down) Okay, I think we better not talk to her. I just don't want you to oppose me too, Piccolo.
He held his sister's shoulders tenderly.
Bick: Look, Luz, I won't oppose you, and you don't want to oppose me either. This woman is my wife. I think you are reasonable. Try to get along with her.
She stood there thinking hard. Piccolo turned to his horse and rode on.
Luz: (coming up with a conclusion) Well, all right. I'm going to ride a horse for a while and help them gather the animals. Maybe this will make me feel better.
She began to walk towards the saddled spare horse.
Bick: (looks like talking to himself) Well, if you have to catch the animals for a while.
Luz: If I have done enough, I will ride back. See you later, Piccolo.
99. Close-up, Jet and Leslie
They were in the same car, and she felt that he was a little nervous because she was in front of her, so she chatted with him to relax him.
Leslie: This place is so beautiful.
He plucked up the courage to glance at her, which was a glance with scrutiny.
Jeter: Anything is beautiful as long as you think it is beautiful. Look at it.
It was silent for a longer time. She looked out, and said--
Leslie: What are these fluffy grasses?
Jeter: Ordinary fodder grass. If you can figure out a way to get rid of it, you will become a double millionaire-you already are. And me, I'm still looking for my own way.
There was a longer silence, and then--
Jeter: Why did you come to Texas? Everyone wants to leave here, and I—I will also go someday.
Leslie: This is my husband's land, (makes gestures with his hands) this is his home.
Jeter: Who can have so much land—unless they get it from someone else.
Leslie: What, Jeter. You are not convinced by the boss, are you?
Jeter: I'm not complaining about anyone.
Leslie: They bought these lands a long time ago. They were bought by the Benedict family. They bought it many years ago.
Jeter: I bought it! They cheated from a group of ignorant Mexicans.
Leslie: This is not right. They paid for it, and they had a Spanish land transfer certificate.
Jeter: Okay. They paid. Five cents per acre, I know. Our family has been in Texas long enough to make a fortune. It's just that they are not so cunning.
100. Medium shot
Luz came to the saddled spare horses. She walked to the Mexican boy who was unloading the "Warwind" saddle.
Luz: Keep the saddle, Wallace. I want to ride it.
Wallace: Miss, no one can ride it except his wife.
Luz: Wallace, with this equipment, I can ride whatever horse I want for thirty years.
Wallace shrugged and tightened his saddle belt. Luz took the reins, held the reins on the horse bit with one hand, and put the other hand on the front bridge of the saddle. She leaped into the saddle. "Zhanfeng" sensed that this was a strange rider, and it fluttered its nose and shivered all over. It staggered for a step or two. She grabbed the horse bit and slid the horse up.
Luz: Maybe you came here to teach me how to act, right? (Anger flashes in his eyes) Let's go!
Sullenly, she kicked the horse in the stomach with the big spurs on her boots. When she and "Warwind" galloped away, Wallace backed up a few steps, and the horse was a little bit compliant, but very unstable.
101. Close-up
Wallace looked at all this worriedly.
102. Medium shot, Jeter and Leslie
The truck stopped by a metal jug on a shelf. Jett turned on the faucet on the sink to collect water for Leslie. He was holding a water spoon, and she drank it. She drank the water and turned to the truck. Jeter looked at her, took a spoon full of water, and poured water into the sky. The drops of water fell like raindrops, making him cooler. He fixed his gaze on Leslie, then turned his gaze to the dove that landed on the top of a cottonwood tree. The pigeon cooed and Leslie looked at the pigeon too.
Leslie: (full of love for nature) How beautiful!
Jeter: Yeah, it's beautiful to eat when you burn
