The original novel is very short. It mainly talks about a farm in a small town full of weird phenomena: the animals and plants mutate, and the farmer’s family disappears...
So a group of police and residents visited the farm at night with guns. After witnessing all kinds of horror phenomena, they watched with their own eyes a colorful light flying from the well into space accompanied by a strange sound in extreme fear.
The film tells the story of the family on the farm. It is not directly described in the novel. It depends on the imagination of the screenwriter and director.

It is no exaggeration to say that the atmosphere, rhythm, soundtrack, acting skills, plot, and visuals are all excellent, and the weird and helpless atmosphere is extremely successful.
There was no one to die, no one to be mentally disabled. The family still inevitably went to destruction step by step, which made people extremely desperate, especially when the mother and son mutated for about ten minutes, listening to their wailing, I felt cold. There are very few horror movies that can give me this experience, the last time it was "An Unknown Woman's Corpse".
This film is a gospel for Cthulhu fans. The Book of the Necronomicon and the Isle of Willows have appeared. The picture of Cage's father in the movie seems to be the love of craftsman himself! However, non-Cthulhu fans may find it unclear and slow-paced. It is almost impossible to avoid this situation in novel adaptations of movies. Instead of the original party and the new audience, it is better to take care of one end.
When I first watched "Annihilation", the first thing I thought of was "Color of Stars". This film can be regarded as a prequel to "Annihilation". The two are the same in many aspects (especially the soundtrack). Fortunately, the original "Color of Stars" has already existed, otherwise it might be mistaken for plagiarism. Thanks to professionals from all walks of life for allowing these two great works to coexist harmoniously on the screen.
It's a pity that Mr. Love Crafts was born at an untimely time. If it were placed today, it might be possible to avoid falling down for half a lifetime.
Cage finally picked up a movie with a storyline online, hoping that it can get out of the shadows as soon as possible.
In short, I highly recommend this film, friends who like Cthulhu must not miss it
