After reading it, I don’t dare to live in this kind of rural cabin in heavy snow. In fact, I’ve never lived in this kind of holiday cabin because of power outages, water cuts, snow storms, and the wooden floors creaked and soundproofed. I have never dared to live because of various factors such as bad conditions and dangerous driving on snowy roads. No more interest now. Although the content of the film that creates fear is not very much related to this house, it is true that the "inconvenience" and "isolation" of this kind of house make the end of the film more desperate.
The film seems to be related to religion and haunting, but in fact it is not. It is still the man’s own demons, driven by a series of consequences caused by his own behavior, and reaping the consequences. What we are discussing is what everyone knows about being condemned by God for doing something wrong.
The story takes place in a broken family. The father had a young mistress and he categorically divorced his wife. The wife committed suicide because he could not bear the blow, leaving behind a pair of children. Xiao San is eager to get married, and wants to take advantage of the exclusive occasion of going to the cottage on Christmas to get acquainted with the children. Unexpectedly, a series of peculiar things will happen in the cottage, making people start to wonder what is real and what is illusion, but who is the house? The scariest person in the world.
This kind of plot is still very fascinating. The scary methods of the story are not new. Most of the time, people can't distinguish between reality and dreams. It is suspected that the characters' brains are not the problem in the film. But the story does have unexpected turns, and some confusing content, so that the audience is always curious to know where the story is going next. Some people may not understand what will happen at the end. This is also the most exciting point of this film. There is a big imagination space at the end. There is no real end. Instead, the audience is allowed to imagine what will happen next. . I feel like I have made up a sequel all the way home.
But the whole movie is really quiet, some plots are very dark, and then occasionally there will be very noisy soundtracks. When I watched it, I felt that I could hear a needle dropping in the theater. It happened that an aunt in the same row insisted on eating snacks, and the whole theater could listen to her eating. It's so quiet. There is also a young couple who whispered and talked many times to attract people's attention. Of course, the result was that they were poked their heads by the magic finger (that's me) in the dark. Watching a movie about retribution like this, you don’t have to do anything wrong, otherwise someone will poke you in the head.
At the beginning, when I said R-level, I thought it would be bloody, but it didn't. It was really more like a psychological suspense film than a horror film, and it was not scary. However, after watching this movie, I believe that everyone will be more vigilant about going to the outdoor hut in the snow, even if you think you are fully equipped, there is still the possibility of accidents. When the weather is predicted, people's hearts are the most unpredictable
In fact, the film appeared at the Sundance Film Festival early last year, but I don’t know why it’s not scheduled for Christmas. It’s actually more suitable for Christmas. Now it's squeezed to release in North America on February 7. The actors perform well. It's just that Richard Armitage has played too many scumbags, you know that he is a sympathetic role when you see him. Maybe he should be considered for a switch.
