Still the same sentence: character determines destiny

It’s not the original crew, and the plot has nothing to do. I still blatantly used the aura of "Butterfly Effect" to name "Butterfly Effect 2". It was made clear that it was for publicity. Everyone would like to know whether this film can surpass its dignity. Called a classic, so you will walk into the cinema with curiosity. Of course, the advantages are the disadvantages, and if the result of the comparison fails, it often becomes a counterweight for others to fight.
So, did this bet win? Just look at how many people scold the dog and continue the mink. Even if there is no preconceived concept, I think I will play Samsung at most.
Life is not in our complete control. This is the case of birth, old age, sickness and death, and the separation of joys and sorrows. How to treat the changes in life and how to face the unsatisfactory things in life are what this film wants to explore. However, in the process of this discussion, gradually, the emphasis on the character defects of the protagonist Nick became more and more obvious, and later I forgot that this is a film with a similar idea and design to the "Butterfly Effect".
Nick's mother's sentence "You can't control everything" made Nick realize the pain that his friends suffered because of himself, and finally chose to sacrifice himself to create a more perfect ending for others. However, I believe that Nick’s failure is not in his desire to control, but in his unearned greed and pessimistic cowardice. When he changed his destiny again and again, but unexpected new problems occurred, his first thought was not to use rational wisdom to analyze and solve the problem or minimize the adverse consequences of the problem, but to try to eliminate what he believed to be through time. Lead to the source of the problem in order to achieve the goal of zero problems. It's a pity that he is not a god after all. Every time he changes, old problems disappear and new problems appear, and his desire is like a bottomless pit.
Regardless of the ability to travel through time and space, judging from his normal life, he is also a loser. He is conceited and unwilling to be convinced by the promoted boss, but instead of making a mess of the big case by himself, he has to rely on pleasing the boss’ daughter to get the position of vice president. Regardless of whether he is dealing with work or Julie, he just says nothing. "Worthy of being a salesman" is his sharpest and most true portrayal of him. Although the transition between different time and space is accidental, his experience in each time and space is inevitable. This is due to his personality. It can be said that in the end, Nick’s death is only to pay for his personality. Powerless, frustrated and desperate compromises made without resistance are not as great as self-sacrifice for others. This conclusion is obviously contrary to the film’s purpose of repeating the phrase "I can do everything for you".
On a whim, leaving all the butterfly effects aside, keeping all the plot and content related to Nick’s personality and psychology, let’s talk about my idea of the film.
The first idea is to put more effort into the picture, sound effects, etc., especially the expansion at the end, focusing on the rendering of the pen and ink, so that people can involuntarily think of Nick’s ability to travel through time and space on the child, and the child will know it. Feeling touched by this ability, this film turned into a thriller. However, it is not easy to achieve the horror. Every time Nick travels through time and space, the only thing I want to know is whose turn is unlucky.
I prefer another idea, add a paragraph at the end, reveal the truth from the perspective of a third party, it turns out that Nick’s headache was inherited from his father and has developed into a type of psychosis (schizophrenia? Delusion?), which happened before. All of Nick's imaginings were all of Nick's imagination, until Nick's mental state was overwhelmed and finally ended his life in the footsteps of his father. The many foreshadowings laid before the film, it was then that the audience suddenly realized that this film finally took on the hat of a suspense film. Of course, on second thought, this ending is similar to "Identity", after all, it still lacks some imagination.
Pulling back, this kind of film is nothing more than trying to dispel the idea of going back to the past, so why should I be entangled in the characterization of Nick.
Think about it, we can't determine which unsatisfactory thing happened to ourselves before the event is more painful, but what is certain is that sitting in panic will only make the pain worse. There are gains and losses. The world is not always as expected. This unchanging principle leads to psychological imbalance, but it also teaches us what survival of the fittest is. Finding excuses to escape, or using a side door to save, is tantamount to self-humiliation. It is better to let go of your arms, accept the reality and face difficulties positively, perhaps success is waiting for you not far away.
