Facing the Weaknesses of Human Nature

I finally got my wish. After watching the classic old film "Warring States Heroes" directed by Akira Kurosawa, my first impression after watching this film is that the film reflects the inherent weakness of human nature through the gains and losses of the two farmers.

The story takes place in Japan during the Warring States Period. Two farmers escaped after being captured by a strong man. They accidentally discovered gold bars hidden in the wood when a fire was being built in the mountains. When they were looking for more gold bars, they met the general played by Toshiro Mifune. People experienced many thrills along the way, and finally successfully transported a large number of gold bars and the princess of Qiuyue country out of the mountain country.

In this film, Toshiro Mifune's acting skills can be described as prosperous. His general Akizuki is calm, steady, courageous and strategic, but he has the demeanor of a general. But in comparison, the two farmers left a deeper impression on me.

When the two peasants were in danger, they fought each other with the same wind and rain, but when they were fighting for gold, they went back and forth and became so greedy that they fought so hard, and so on again and again. At the same time, the generals sometimes followed, sometimes buggered, and even betrayed to receive rewards.

Great director Akira Kurosawa's portrayal of human nature is Shinoki Sanmin. It’s not difficult to find the protagonists’ promises of "blessings and difficulties" in Chinese film and television works, but at the same time it also proves from the negative that this is unrealistic. If it can be achieved easily, why bother to make such a pledge. ?

History has told us: between monarchs and ministers, we can only share adversity, not wealth; between friends, we can only share wealth, not adversity. This is a gray fact. It is a rooted nature hidden deep in the human soul. Social norms and enlightenment have been urging us to overcome this rooted nature, but a happy ending such as film reviews does not always appear.

The story is quite strong. Akira Kurosawa's skillful camera scheduling has made this process similar to breaking through the level grander. Several fighting scenes are even more wonderful. It improves the director's understanding of beauty and ugliness, and the funnyness of the latter adds a lot of fun to the film.

The Hidden Fortress quotes

  • Matashichi: Where is she? Who is she?

General Rokurota Makabe: I don't know. She's really quick, though. She's already gone. Look. She's mine, okay? I'll kill you if you go near her.

  • Matashichi: Damn it! Gone again!

Tahei: He's on his high horse watching us do all the work.

Matashichi: Right. He's probably running around looking for that girl.

Tahei: Maybe he already found a place and is sleeping with her.

Matashichi: We agreed to split everything in three. The girl should be the same.
