Director Craig Brewer did not find funding until five years after the script was completed, because he was white but wanted to make black rap movies. The famous director and producer John Singleton was very interested in the script, but failed to raise funds. In the end, he contributed 3 million to complete the film. The film was shot in Memphis, the city of music, and the choreographer and song creator Three 6 Mafia also came from Memphis. The Mississippi River and the railroad bridge crossing Tennessee and Arkansas appeared in the film several times as a cutscene, which can be regarded as an explanation of the location. Like most movies that reflect the lives of the lower class, it's basically black. Except for New York, there are not many beautiful cities in American movies.
Starring Terence Howard was nominated for best actor. In Crash, he acted as the director of the TV station and was insulted by the white policeman.
