Comedy life

Any great drama is a return to humanity. The ups and downs of the plot and the magnificent scenes are not necessarily the only criteria for a good drama. A simple life scene can also act out a drama. Evaluating the quality of a comedy is not based on how much laughter it brings as the ultimate criterion, but after laughter, it can bring thinking and motivate the soul. "Only happiness can last" Ollie's words are the best interpretation of their final performance. History is created by the people, but often only a few people can be remembered. Most of us are just ordinary individuals among all living beings. We play different roles in this drama of life. There are comedies and tragedies. But we live hard and don’t give up all our efforts because of our smallness. It is the power and loveliness of human nature. For the stage of love and for the close friendship, Ollie completed the final performance regardless of the danger of his life; Stan chose to retire after the death of his friend and continued to write comedy material for Laurel and Hardy until the end of his life.

A lot of things in front of and behind the scenes are embarrassing.

I think the film's choice of material is great. The short details can show the deep emotional foundation of the two people, the plot is very complete, the main contradictions and conflicts are highlighted, and the transformation of the characters' psychological state is also very smooth.

Stan & Ollie quotes

  • Ida Kitaeva Laurel: I may live in Hollywood, but I am not Hollywood.

Lucille Hardy: Ida, you are the epitome of Hollywood.

Ida Kitaeva Laurel: Don't you pity me.

    Lucille Hardy: What?

  • Stan Laurel: You know, when you watch our movies, nobody else in the stories knows us, and we don't know anybody either. It was just the two of us. All we had was each other.
