Writer's father and son collation

Last month the original authors David and Nick and his son came to our company to have a discussion. Just after watching the movie, I would like to recall the content.

Nick & David Sheffs father and son impression

When I saw Nick's first impression at the time, I felt that the hairstyle and sweet tea seemed to be a coincidence or who had plagiarized. However, Nick also joked that the sweet tea hairstyle is very popular in California barbershops. When he enters the barber shop, he always talks about Timothee hair, and even Timothee peach (I don't understand the pureness). Nick himself feels that the gestures and movements are the kind of American guys who shrug their heads, talk and dance, if it is not for the slight vicissitudes of the face, it really makes people feel like a boy in his early 20s. This sweet tea is really imitated in the movie.

David dresses casually, has short, dry hair, and his eyes are fierce. It is not until he speaks that he can feel his identity as a writer. At this point, Steve Cavill's appearance and feeling are quite different in the film. David said that he was surprised to know that Steve was auditioning for his role. When the two of them sat down to talk for the first time, Steve assured David that he would not stick to the original real person for 10 hours a day like Sweet Tea. So Steve's self-contained performance is also a manifestation of his confidence in his acting skills.

Father and son talk about movie watching experience

Compared to the overwhelming of Steve Cavill playing his father, the two of them did not show much excitement about the little-known sweet tea at the time. Later Tiancha started to shadow Nick, learning his every move, the relationship between them became very good, and sometimes they even surfed together. Until later, after watching "Call Me by Your Name", Nick said that he was completely conquered by Sweet Tea's acting skills.

David said that after knowing that Felix was going to shoot, he deliberately found "Broken Circle" to see it, which was shocking. Later when they saw the film "Beautiful Boy", they were also very moved. Next, they plan to go to the campus to promote the film, the purpose is to let more drug addicts realize that they are not alone, and there is hope to come out.

Nick talks about detoxification

Nick said that he was taking drugs because he used drugs to escape reality. He felt that he was lonely and no one could understand himself. Later, he was able to come out because he found that he was not alone, but he was also very lucky to have such a supportive family. Many people around them did not come out like this, and died young. Both of them talked a lot about the mental process of drug rehabilitation. For a time, I thought the film would focus on how Nick struggled with drug addiction, but it turned out that it was actually from a different perspective. I won’t go into details here. If you are interested, you can watch a movie.

In fact, the one-hour panel talked a lot, but because a month has passed, and I haven't seen the movie or the original book at that time, it was rather full. Here are only some things that can be recalled, if there are discrepancies, please bear with them.

It is worth mentioning that there was still a row of main creators in the audience at the time. Among them was the producer Jeremy Kleiner. The host said that he participated in almost all the good films that can be thought of in the past few years. It is estimated that he is a good partner for Pete? (Although I don't know each other). Sitting in the audience, Jeremi was a little cramped. It was completely different from what I imagined that the big Hollywood film's arrogant and domineering image. He even had tears in his eyes at one time. It is estimated that as an artist, he is too emotional and delicate.

Does this film have an editor?

Why is the score so low. I was very moved from beginning to end, without feeling dull or dramatic, probably because I can empathize with both father and son at the same time, because I also have a little boy. The slow and sad soundtrack of the film well expresses the sadness and sorrow of the family members of the drug addicts. It is rare to see such affectionate expression of the father-son emotional bond in a movie. Why did my once-cute pretty boy become like this? Watching him go further and further away, I couldn't help him, I hated my own incompetence and his inability to live up to my expectations. And Timmy's performance is even better. As a drug addict, he didn't laugh or cry, even though he didn't fit well (a drug addict should be thinner, weaker and more neurotic), but his delicate and deep performance made me feel the drug addict firsthand The kind of world-weary, lonely, powerless, despair, fear and sadness that want to break free but is too deep and too difficult.
