The character description is very good in this drama

Season 1 actually ended like this... After watching episode 9 last week, I was still waiting for this week happily. As a result, I took a closer look at the introduction and fell! No episode 10? ? ?

After watching the first episode, I decided that " Yellowstone" must be one of the outstanding TV series of 2018 . Now it seems that I'm just like a god!

The biggest advantage of this show is that it tells the story in a down-to-earth manner.

First of all, the script is excellent. The storyline revolves around the male protagonist John, burning every detail step by step. The first episode is very important. It lasts for an hour and a half. It fully clarifies the key characters in the play and the relationship between them. At the same time, many things happen when the audience is completely unaware of it. But under the ingenious arrangement of the director and screenwriter, the audience will not feel abrupt at all, because everyone will immediately realize: ah, there is a foreshadowing of the plot!

Even without the yellow sand and gunfights of the past Westerns, we can still feel the unique wildness of the American West from "Yellowstone ." This is also thanks to director Taylor Sheridan, who once again created a very plump and vivid American West for us.

The "Border Killer" and "Passing Through Fire" , which he served as the screenwriter before, are already good enough. This time he personally participated in the writing of the " Yellowstone" script. Please rest assured that the director Taylor Sheridan has done a good job. The characters in his works are down-to-earth and humane, and the dilemmas he faces are very close to reality.

Of course, Kevin Costner, the actor of the male protagonist John, is also one of the reasons for the success of "Yellowstone" . Kevin Costner himself is very good at performing tough guy roles. In his early years, the image he created in the self-written and directed "Dancing with Wolves" has long been deeply rooted in the hearts of the people . There is also the 2012 miniseries "Blood Enemy" . "Blood Enemy" is based on real events in American history. The grievances and feuds of the two major families have led to years of contention and bloody battles between the two states of the United States. Kevin Costner plays the patriarch of one of the two major families. He is a sure and ruthless "demon" character.

So when it comes to "Yellowstone", Kevin Costner is very familiar with it. The actor he plays is tough and stubborn. His family has always been strong, and he hopes to stay strong. So when encountering foreign occupation, he will definitely unite the whole family to prevent foreign things from changing his world.

The role setting itself is very rich, and Kevin Costner's performance makes it icing on the cake. We can see a strong western cowboy, a father who loves his children, and at the same time a cruel and vicious family leader.

In addition to the male protagonist, several other roles in the Dutton family are also very eye-catching. Two of my favorites are Beth, the only daughter of the actor, and Rip, his right-hand man in the ranch.

Lady first. Although the protagonist has three sons, only his daughter Beth inherited his character. Fierce and capable is Beth's normal behavior. Beth has already relied on her intelligence and decisiveness to make a world of business in the business world, but after learning that her father's ranch was threatened and his father was in trouble, she had nothing to say, and immediately returned to her father, doing everything she could to help him.

The play also explains in detail the cause of Beth's character through scattered details. When Beth was a child, she was a very ordinary girl, even a little timid, but her mother was a strong and independent person. Naturally, the mother also hopes that Beth can be alone like a boy.

At the same time, the death of his mother is also a psychological barrier that Beth can never overcome. So all of Beth's behaviors in adulthood are reasonable. Although her absolute loyalty to her father is touching, it also makes people feel pitiful.

Rip, the hero's right-hand man in the ranch, was once ridiculed as "a dog" because he was more loyal to the hero than his son. So although it is ugly, it is indeed a true portrayal of Rip himself. But the director made him "dog's" justified.

First of all, when Rip was a child, he personally killed his stepfather because he abused his mother for a long time. Back then, the actor took him in without any complaints, so he was willing to do anything for the actor. Killing and setting fire is nothing. Rip's life goal is to repay the actor for his nurturing and knowledge. Second, because he grew up in Dutton Ranch since he was a child, he and the actor's daughter Beth are childhood sweethearts, and their relationship line is the cutest and sexiest in the show. Therefore, the existence of the emotional line also invisibly consolidated Rip's loyalty.

You have to admit that in film and television dramas, all the images of loyal tough guys are very attractive. Why is this?

Because in real life, there are too many people who deceive and plan carefully, and people who can be loyal to themselves and know how to reward themselves have become scarce. Everyone likes people who are loyal to themselves, but they can't help but take advantage of others when they meet this kind of people. Gee.

The director's shaping of the actor's second son was also very successful. The second son Jamie has always been the actor's intimate little padded jacket in the first 7 episodes. Jamie is a lawyer. In addition to his own business, he is full-time litigating and clearing up difficult disputes for his father. And the actor also needs a cron to get involved in politics, and his second son, Jamie, does his part.

But the director also described Jamie's weaknesses in the first seven episodes, such as his weakness and hesitation in the face of problems, for example, he wants to get rid of his father's control and make a career. So in episodes 8 and 9, when his father's goals run counter to his own goals, Jamie finally chose to betray the result is logical.

Unfortunately, with so many perfect characters created, the director still missed one. An imperfect character line in "Yellowstone" is Kayce, the actor's youngest son. From beginning to end, I didn't understand why this man had to make trouble with his father. Although the director also laid out a lot of details, they failed to convince the audience.

Even if his mother's early death had caused great pain to Kayce, even if his dad himself was really arbitrary, even if he himself fell in love with an Indian woman. But all of the above were not enough to support this character's ability to fight against his dad all the time, and persisted until the last episode.

Later, I realized that it may not only be the problem with Kayce, but also his Indian wife. It is simply too annoying. I hope she will not appear again in the second season. Please also ask the director to grasp the big reversal of the last episode and save it. The overall image of the youngest son Kayce.

Although the audience hopes that the Dutton family can kill the Indians, kill the government, kill the real estate businessmen, and continue to write the legend of the modern American western cowboy, after all , "Yellowstone" is not a superhero movie, and mortals cannot succeed forever and stand tall. Place. Will it be true that we will eventually find that there are no victors, only victims in "Yellowstone" ?

The second season may not be broadcast until June 2019, sigh.
